Its the state law that requires her to compete with the gender at birth. Its not up to you, or me, its the state law.
quote:Honestly, the appropriate response should be that she can't compete at all while taking steroids for the express purpose of altering her hormonal balance to therefore become more masculine.
Its not up to you, or me, its the state law. Its the same state law that conservatives want to use to make that same person to use the ladies restroom. Makes total sense, right?
It isn't being used as a treatment for a medical condition and should be treated as illegal use.

quote:It isn't medically necessary. It is an elective treatment.
Because steroids used for medically necessary treatments are not banned.

Its not illegal though.

quote:Criminally? Agreed, it is not.
Its not illegal though.
But it should be deemed illegal per the bylaws of the state athletic organization.

That's your opinion.

Mack Beggs, a transgender 17-year-old at Euless Trinity, won the girls 110-pound championship at Saturday's Class 6A Region II wrestling meet after a Coppell wrestler forfeited the final. Beggs, a junior, is taking testosterone while transitioning from female to male.

Only because it fits your agenda.

That's your opinion.
Where is the medical necessity?

It is medically necessary to him, to continue his transition physically. Its only in your opinion that, that specific treatment is not medically necessary. However, I am sure if you ask his physicians the effects of stopping the steroid treatments would effectively end his transition.

quote:The only agenda I have is that I disapprove of normalizing behavior that is highly abnormal and presents as psychological imbalance in any other circumstance.
Only because it fits your agenda.
Simply because the political winds are moving in the other direction does not change that view.
I also side with past writers of the DSM that the process of categorizing disorders has become incredibly politicized and is out of control.

We just have to agree to disagree. I don't think you have the right to tell anyone what is right or wrong for themselves.

There are a plethora of psychiatric disorders which are essentially the same as this one but do not have the political backing and therefore receive actual medical management.

quote:How far do you extend that mentality?
I don't think you have the right to tell anyone what is right or wrong for themselves.
I think society needs to know.
quote:That psychiatric disorder often results in individuals mutilating healthy limbs so that they are amputated.
Body integrity identity disorder (BIID, also referred to as amputee identity disorder is a psychological disorder in which an otherwise healthy individual feels that they are meant to be disabled.
Should we also push for that to be acceptable?
Where does your stance on this end?
I don't care about the slippery slope argument. My point is, what is a healthy psychiatric state, and what isn't?
What is different between the individual who mutilates their limbs because they believe they are an amputee and an individual who has their genitals surgically altered because they believe they are the opposite sex?

She/he shouldn't be allowed to compete against other women. Not fair to them at all since she is taking drugs to manipulate her body while they aren't.

And on the flip side one person cannot dictate unfair competition to the many.

I don't care about this whole tranny debate. If fools want to cut their dicks off, have at it.
I draw the line on these types of things when they affect other innocent parties.
This affected an innocent party.
I am of the belief that people transitioning in either direction should not be allowed in competitive sports. That would end the debate on which category they need to compete in.
At some point some dedicated pranksters are going to claim to be girls and wreck shite in high school girls sports. The outrage will be tasty.

He didn't, he competed under the rules he was given. It was unfair, but its also the state law.

Now I'm going to be on the side of most here that the he/she has some mental illness, but other articles are saying that the state wouldn't allow it to compete against boys
She still should be disqualified. Boys don't get to take roids either.

It is a her correct?
Regardless of medical necessity, which it is not, it is still a PED and it is unfair to use PED's when your opponent is not.
