I always assumed the oilfield baws were in New Iberia, Broussard, Scott, Carencro, and Breaux Bridge. The engineers, accountants, etc being in Youngsville, Broussard, Milton, and Lafayette.

I must be trash because I shop at Bohnings. I actually love living here it's home. I wish half of the people would leave so traffic wouldn't be so bad.

Yea I would need to see some serious data to believe that. The 2010 census numbers are below:
quote:
Youngsville has the highest per capita income ($31,257) in Lafayette Parish. Compare that to the Parish's largest city Lafayette ($27,532) or the Parish as a whole ($26,791). Go a bit further and compare it to the state's largest cities like New Orleans ($24,929) or Baton Rouge ($23,195) or compare it to the entire state ($23,094). However, it is lower than the per capita income of Oak Hills Place, which at $65,938 is significantly higher. Ruston, at $34,329 per capita, is also higher.[

I've been to way worse places than Ponchatoula...

Meh, I wouldn't go that far. The difference between the field and technical personnel in O&G is pretty dynamic. Though incomes may be the same, saying that their isn't a distinct difference is like saying Jethro who won the lottery is no different than the VP of Ops at a telecommunications company who happens to be Jethros new neighbor after he buys his mansion.

The ones working in the field spend their money on F250's and truck nuts.
All the others spend their money trying to keep up with the Joneses.

Central, Destrehan, Luling, Harahan, Cut Off, Zachary and Kenner being ranked better than Mandeville and Covington is a joke. Those places are shitholes by comparison.

I didn't mean it like that at all. I know the Bohnings very well and shop there all the time. I was born and raised in Ponchatoula, and will likely always live here. Traffic has gotten horrendous, though.

Unless it's a two income home. I know several people who live in Youngsville or on the edge of Youngsville that have two incomes in excess of $85k each. I also no people in the same neighborhood with one income barely scratching $75k or two incomes in the $40k range each. While I don't necessarily condone living beyond your means I can see why some would. With the income in the area, and the property taxes bringing things like the sports complex and public schools that are some of the best in the parish/state, along with low crime rates, it's not a bad place for a family (as long as they have good flood insurance).

2016 data?
How many homes went up for sale in 2016? How many more going to go up for sale in 2017?

Alexandria should be on this list. All of downtown Alexandria is out of power at the moment.

Don't see any 2016 data, all I can find is the Lafayette metro numbers which were in the low 60's.

I know it doesn't fit the 5k minimum population but Port Fourchon is the most miserable looking place I've ever been to in my entire life.
