Circle Blade Sound coming from Rear of Truck

I am college student. I just bought a 2004 Frontier with 135,000 from an older lady in NOLA. Had been sitting for about a 1 1/2. We changed oil, spark plugs, and put on new tires. Just picked up from Mechanic last night, no check engine light. Engine sounds great. Problem is when i hit 55-60 on the interstate, i hear a sound like a circle blade saw coming from the rear left of vehicle. Sounds stops immediately after i let off of the throttle. Co worker says could be exhaust leak. The bumper is dented slightly in a way that could be producing a whistling sound when i hit certain speed. Almost sounds like a back window is cracked ( i checked). Best way to describe the sound is an electric saw coming from the rear of vehicle. TIA OT!

I would be pulling the differential cover that the previous poster mentioned. If the oil is sparkling, then that is no bueno.

I would start by changing the rear differential fluid. Dirty fluid can make God awful sounds.

Id recommend posting this to Outdoor board as well but it sounds like your diff youngster

Rear brake caliper or rear pad rubbing on the rotor

In other news, has anyone seen how hideous the new titans are??
Looks like a Nissan van, a ford truck, and a ram truck had a 7 week premature Down syndrome baby

Whistle would be least worry, but maybe hardest to track down to eliminate.
Brake rubbing, probably unlikely because you wouldn't hear it at just certain speeds, would be easiest and cheapest to fix.
Differential is very likely and going to ruin a weekend or two.

Could also be a wheel bearing hub.
Does the noise stop when you turn a certain direction?

Any idea on how much replacing differential should run including labor? Mechanic is a family friend

obligatory
tree fiddy.
On a serious note, being that it is a Nissan and depending on damage somewhere between 600 and 1000

Non-use usually causes brake problems not diff problems

Those trucks are bad about going through hubs. Check your rear hubs and might want to think about replacing the swing arms too. The knuckle wears out and its easier to just replace the whole arm than pressing out and replacing the knuckle.

Just take off the diff rear cover. If you find metal in the fluid, then your gears are toast. Find someone to replace the gears. Put a 4.10 or something lower. It will make a huge difference.
That is if your vehicle is rwd.

Nissan parts and labor are not cheap.

Definitely check the differential fluid. If you find saw dust in there go beat the shite out of the old lady.
