What makes the game so hard?

What suggestions do you have to make it easier and more enjoyable?

How incredible is it?

Unforgiving combat for beginners and the occasional bullshite "gotcha" death.

First playthroughs are pretty memorable.

Are you able to save before the tough parts?

No. It auto saves anytime something happens for the most part.

Yay DS thread!

It isn't hard, just requires you to pay attention.

Play your first time blind.

It is the only series I've played in the last year. All other games are unfulfilling now.

It really isn't an 'incredible' game and isn't for everyone.

The story isn't told to you like it is in most games and it forces you to be disciplined and change your ways if something isn't working.

It isn't actually even all that hard, unless you are a person who is unwilling to learn from their mistakes and change the way they approach things.

They're good games, but I'd definitely say it's more a niche experience than it is some incredible gaming experience for everyone.

The fact that you are knocking souls but loved FF15... I think this makes me hate you as a person.

Sorry not personal.

It auto saves. You won't ever have to worry about that. They do this so you can't reset on a death etc when losing souls.

In 2 & 3, bonfires act as checkpoints through the level. Dying will push you back to the most recent bonfire. Finding and reaching them is the "hard" part.

Where did I knock souls, loser?

I didn't knock it at all.

They are good games, just not everyone's cup of tea.

I can't speak for Dark Souls, but Demon Souls isn't really all that bad. It's a really slow-paced game, so you probably shouldn't die all that often unless you get impatient. Not getting impatient is probably the hard part though.

It's not really the combat that I have a fundamental problem with. It's the things like loosing all your XP when you die, enemies respawning, minimal checkpoints. No one liked that kind of crap when they played games on the NES, but nostalgia is a powerful drug. It is suddenly cool to play games that are "NES Hard," despite what a colossal waste of time they really are.

I would prefer a game where the gameplay alone was the challenging part and not something filled with design decisions to automatically inflate the difficulty level. Old school games were what they were because once you mastered them, you realized they could be completed in about 30 minutes. If you weren't having to replay a level 45 times, you would be finished with the game in a shorter amount of time than it might have taken you to drive home from the store.

The storytelling in DS is absolute shite and that is why i knock it, especially because the story is a good one.

The gameplay is great and it isn't something that everyone can complete.

I'm honestly shocked you are fine sayjng this game is incredible since every time i see you in a game thread it's either you complaining about it being too easy or sucking.

Although it isn't a must, I would recommend farming to level up if you get stuck on certain enemies or a certain boss.

DS isn't about the story.
It is incredible without that aspect.

You sure are speaking for a lot of people.

I enjoy all of these things.
