I don't think this worked out as intended for Vox.

We lost our insurance and I became a Republican as a result. https://twitter.com/voxdotcom/status/831846780711092224 …

voxdotcom the hospital I work for is freezing raises because insufficient reimbursement for services rendered. The ACA needs to go.

@voxdotcom my family premium went from $789 a month w/1k ded. to $1929 w/8k ded. In 3 years. We also lost several key doctors.

@voxdotcom Easy. It made my premiums and deductibles skyrocket. Just like everyone else.

@voxdotcom I have given several thousands of dollars to a company and a service that I have never used.

@voxdotcom family premium has increased 10-14% / year. Very UNaffordable for majority who are mandated to subsidize (persons & corporate)

Meh.. just a bunch of anecdotal evidence. The more important story is that it has allowed 20million people to get health insurance that wouldn't have gotten it before. Just ask BamaAtl. He has charts and graphs and surveys and what not. Not that pesky real life stuff of what actually happened to people, otherwise known as anecdotal evidence.

Why is people having insurance a necessary thing? A hospital will treat you if you have a life threatening illness, have to by law. Why must a drug company or pharmacy give a discount to a consumer?

The ONLY way I could ever get insurance is through my group at the school, due to a birth defect (1 kidney). But that is not their fault.

I got my tonsils out the week before my ACA modified plan took over. Cost me $100 total for everything. Had I done it a week later, it would have cost me $1700 for the exact same thing. And my share of the monthly premium went up 10%.

I now pay $739 a month(My employer pays the other $739) for health insurance.
I have a $50 co-pay and $150 co-pay for "real doctors" My major deductible is now $7500 a year

Before the ACA, I paid $529 a month, My co-pay was $25 and $50 for "real doctors". My major deductible was $2500 a year.

So for me and my family it hasn't been a great experience.

My employer will increase my salary by the $739 a month if I choose not to have insurance with them.

For me If it was not for the penalty the ACA would make me pay I would seriously think about self funding and assume all the risk myself.

I'm young, reasonably healthy, and have employer insurance.

My HDP has gone from a 3500/yr deductible to almost 7k, but I have a health savings plan which both me and my employer contribute to.

I think I have around 15K in that HSA, because I contribute a lot and never use it.

So, the ACA hasn't really affected me at all.

I find it interesting that the only companies or services we really demand a discount for are the ones that keep us alive.

Pre ACA premium around 800/mth. After ACA mandate, through the years went from 1200/mth, then 1400/mth and now 1700/mth with much higher deductibles and most doctors in my area do not accept the plans. 2 providers pulled out of state and now we Are stuck with shittey plans, coverage, deductibles etc.

I am self employed, this mandate has impacted those of us who get individual plans, the most.

Well. I decided to forgo health insurance this year. Because frick paying more than electricity, or water, or gas, or food, or cable.. Hell, the only thing that would be more expensive monthly is rent. frick obamacare. frick the penalty. frick the dems who shoved this horrible pile of shite down our throats.
