It was a long time ago so I don’t remember who put it on. It wasn’t a club.

I’m glad they removed it. It wasn’t doing the lake any good.

You're going to get eaten by a gator.

I've probably caught more bass in Chicot than I have anywhere else, to be honest (not that that is saying much). But I've always gone with someone who knows the lake well.

Millers Lake>>>>>Chicot

I only fished Miller's Lake once, and didnt catch shite. I'd like to try it a few more times this year. I have a couple buddies who fish it fairly regularly. They usually go there when they get too frustrated with Chicot ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

I know millers is better.
Does that crazy guy still live near the lake that hollers at people fishing.
Years ago they might have had a slot when 13 lb tagged bass contest was going on I believe around 1996.
Carey’s sold xpress boats and I came in from California on vacation and I stopped to buy a boat from them with a 25 hp to fish the lake with my father. Then I bought a few rods and reels for dad and I to fish the lake. We got out on the lake and the rain poured so bad the boat had about a foot of water in it. We caught bass after bass right where the spillway lock was and the bass were all in the slot limit.
Cary’s use to be the place to stop before fishing on the lake. I went by there a few years back and it changed names.

Cary's is now Industrial Service and Supply. I know the owner very well, and hes a great guy. They still carry all the hunting and fishing gear as they used to, but they also have hardware, plumbing, etc. We stop there before heading to Chicot just about every time, and I'll be damned if Matt doesn't end up selling me something. Most recently it was an extended choke for my shotgun. A shotgun which I bought from him two years ago. If he doesn't have what you're looking for, chances are he can order it for you.

Cool I know that guy sold me a boat package and rods & reels years ago.
I saw they have an East landing now. Do you go down the East landing Road by the power plant to get to this landing?

That wasnt the same owner that sold you the boat. I'm pretty sure they dont sell boats anymore. That was probably Mark Cary, the previous owner.

Cary sold me the boat.
He was getting out of them and only had a few left.
My father wanted a boat and we needed one down here that worked.
Cary’s price was $1,500 cheaper than H&M Marine in Crowley.
The guy had it rigged all we needed was 1 hour to do paperwork and him to get it ready to go.
I jumped on it and my father sold that boat 2 years ago and still ran fine.

I grew up within 10 miles of Chicot and like most said, looks like you would hammer them...... more than likely you wont. It's ONE depth which doesn't help, it sees A LOT OF PRESSURE.
My best advice, go set yoyo's within the next few weeks, it's your best chance to enjoy the lake. Besides that, throw a 1/2 oz jig with a craw trailer by every tree you possibly can in a trip, best chance to hook a handful of good fish.

talk about the battle of bad, one thing is for certain, Millers will be good fishing LONG before Chicot gets going(the little that it does)

Millers lake in late March/early April, you can catch monster chinqapin and bream.

A friend of mine sent me some impressive pics last year from both places. Wheelbarrows full of perch.

While the lake is relatively uniform outside of the creek channels, it’s not exactly one depth. The channel goes anywhere from 8 to 12 ft. There are some ditches and drop offs along the channel and small feeder creeks that branch out into some coves. A friend of mine has almost the entire lake contoured on his electronics and it is not completely flat. Sometimes 2 feet can make a big difference in bass fishing.
Posted on 1/23/18 at 3:58 pm to PillageUrVillage
i agree, 2 feet in there. I'm basically saying Millers and Chicot are as flat as you'll see for a fishery.
Posted on 1/23/18 at 3:59 pm to ZeekFreak
That’s why you have to look for the smallest things that stand out. It may work, it may not. And 90% of the time in those 2 lakes it won’t.
ETA: Same with Lake Martin. However, I seem to have better luck there.
