I caught my 9lber in 4 ft of water when area was 2ft of water.
I caught a few in the area and was fixing to leave as a avg size gator was getting pissed showing me he was boss.
I threw the jig on the tree bottom right under the water and let it sink next to the tree. The bottom of the cypress trees are like an umbrella. You have to let the lure rest on the bottom of the tree and barely touch it to drop to stay next to the tree. The bass didn’t even move when I caught him. I thought I was hung. The only time it fought was when I got it next to the boat.
Yes, snapped my tip off my lamiglass rod that I custom built.
I still got those California flipping jigs which they no longer make. I still have 20 of them and they catch bass and have a rattle. I used them on the California delta also.
