quote:having the wherewithal to obtain a free voter ID and actually successfully cast a vote should be considered the minimum voting intelligence test. If you can't manage to obtain a free Id card within 2 years you dont really want to vote, nor should you be able to because you are beyond pathetic.
Not when the 'free ID' is specifically planned around making it harder for minorities to obtain.
Not when the precursor documents are not free.
Welcome to the discussion, you're uninformed.

Who are these black people who don't have a birth certificate and social security card? How did this happen?
Lost? Are you under the false impression that you can just get a new one for free?
Or change the name on them if the name doesn't match the name on your ID?

We have a Constitutional amendment specifically prohibiting what you're calling for here.

I'm all for minimum intelligence tests to vote as well.
If you don't know anything at all about government you shouldn't be voting.
If you are a long term welfare moocher with 9 kids then I lean toward restricting your voting rights too.

How is it harder for minorities to obtain? Please explain why you think they aren't capable of obtaining an ID. Do you think they aren't smart enough?
Please explain your racist position.

Furthermore, to the extent that the federal government could institute a voter ID, at least for presidential elections, I don't think the president would have the power to institute one via an EO.

Seriously?
How much does a birth certificate and social security card cost? An adult that has never obtained a driver's license and has lost other identifying documents calls into question his or her lawful presence in the United States. Such a person has WAY MORE to be concerned about than being allowed to vote.
This is such a non-issue. The real issue is that one side wants to allow illegal Mexicans to vote, and black people to vote 3-4 times to overthrow whitey's power. Admit it.

They already have these things, they are called Drivers license and state ID.

I disagree with nationalizing elections...
No national ID cards, no registries...
Just my humble opinion...

The congress and senate should try to pass natiknal legislation. I don't believe this is something a president can do through EO but I'm also getting tired of presidents (both Obama and trump) ruling through EO's

I agree 100%. In-person voting fraud is a non-issue, and any attempt to 'prevent' it is just voter suppression by another name. Thanks for agreeing with me!

Ahh, the old "birth certificate" excuse raises its head again.

Very hard to pass a national voter ID.
Would probably require a constitutional amendment.
The constitution is very clear about elections being run by the States.
