and a couple game of thrones episodes

That one from season 4 where Hodor snapped Locke's neck and they revealed the Night King and how White Walkers are made (which infuriated the book Nazis).

Nice list.

I'm going to assume the OP is asking for the best episode for that particular series and not best episode of all series (although I think he is asking for the latter which is just inviting a pissing match).

I'll throw out:

House: Three Stories

The Shield: Family Meeting

Mad Men: Shut the Door, Have a Seat

Awesome thread and great suggestions in here. A couple of mine that haven't been mentioned:

Scrubs: My Finale (best finale of all time imo)
Also want to throw out My Lunch, as finales and pilots can get an unfair boost in lists like these.

Star Trek TNG: Q, Who

Lost: Through the Looking Glass

Mad Men: Nixon vs Kennedy

Freaks and Geeks: Discos and Dragons

HIMYM: Slapsgiving

24: Season 1 finale

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Body. One of the best shows of all time that gets relegated to a cult fave, The Body shows how powerful this series was. Not many shows out there can match the reality of losing a loved one like this hour does.

Game of Thrones: Winds of Winter. Best hour of television ever filmed imo.

Breaking Bad - One Minute, Salud, Ozymandias & Granite State (too many to list in this series)
The Leftovers - The Garveys at Their Best and International Assassin
Preacher - Finish the Song

If I had to make a list of the best 30 episodes of television I've ever seen, it would annoy people because it would be very disproportionately GOT and Breaking Bad, and I would wholeheartedly believe it.

To throw out some episodes from different shows (off the top of my head) without showing too much preference to any show in particular:

GOT: The Winds of Winter (tried to include a second episode but have hard time picking from several and don't want to list them all)
Breaking Bad: Ozymandias, Face Off
The Sopranos: Long Term Parking, Pine Barrens
The Wire: Final Grades, Middle Ground
South Park: Scott Tenorman Must Die, Woodland Critter Christmas

The following episodes are not what I would consider to be the greatest, but they are (in my opinion) too often overlooked when discussing great episodes of a particular show:

GOT: You Win or You Die
The Sopranos: College
The Wire: All Prologue
I think Woodland Critter Christmas could be included here as well if I didn't already include it as one of my favorites above.

I was going to say Jurassic Bark. It's actually the only episode of any TV show whose name I know.

Sopranos - Pine Barrens

Nailed it.

My #3 would be the wire episode(don't know the title) in which stringer and avon essentially said their goodbyes on that balcony overlooking Baltimore harbor.

need to rewatch BB, so many stand out episodes. Salud, 4 Days Out, Ozymandias, Dead Freight and Fly all come to mind.

Fly is the worst BB episode, and it's not even close.

Distant second is the one from the first season where they're raising money for his cancer treatment.

Season 5 - Episode 17 Jennifer Love Hewitt. Killer episode when they're in detention.

Also worth noting is the last episode, even if just for the final scene.
