84 Lumber is the winner here,
One of the greatest endings in Super Bowl history and people have already stopped talking about the game.
But you ain't stopped talking about this.

But we are talking about how we ain't buying shite from there.
In this instance I don't think any publicity is good publicity.

tactical acts like this is a product with mass appeal that just shows up on the shelves.

no one knows...but if they're walking this one back with such a ridiculous explanation then it's reasonable to suspect they've had a rough 4 days.

I think it is safe to assume they took a negative hit after the commercial aired, at least based on this new statement.

look at their twitter. they're furiously responding to anyone and everyone

I've got a buddy in outside sales for them. This week has been hell... trying to put out fires all week.

Exactly.
This isn't Uber vs Lyft or a common product where everyone purchases it.
84 Lumber caters to a specific industry, and only that industry.
They gain nothing by pandering for the support of the IT industry, financial advisors, baristas, doctors, etc.
People talking about them means absolutely nothing if those individuals aren't part of the construction industry.

I'm not sure why a lumber company of all businesses decided to go down this route.
Posted on 2/8/17 at 4:27 pm to CorporateTiger
I'm guessing they thought everyone would love and rally around them. Instead, they fell into a huge pile of fail

According to the OP the lumber company was run by a woman lol

But the people who will love the message aren't people I would associate with lumber purchases.
If 84 was a company specializing in fricking transgendered coffee delivery by drone in SF, I get it. Lumber.... not so much.

I had heard the commercial was supposed to reference Trump's "big door" for legal migrants. I saw some prog complaining g it was a pro Trump commercial.

Maybe
I mean, you are right that they are getting a TON more exposure.
But, I'm not convinced it will help the bottom line. That they are walking it back is probably pretty meaningful.

Wow. So with one commercial, they pissed off both Trump supporters and the progressive totalitarians.
I'm actually impressed.

Have noticed what's being discussed? Certainly not the game. No spin for you...try harder.

Well right off the bat it cost them $5.5 million and whatever sum they paid to some limp wristed jerkoff on Madison Avenue that came up with the idea

That just proves that getting involved with politics is an awful idea.
