The idea that any exposure is good exposure is ridiculous

It depends...but you're right this is not a case of "any publicity is good publicity"

I guess if you are a brand new start-up or other unknown then maybe anything is good. 84 is already well known though.

That just proves that getting involved with politics is an awful idea.

Yeah, this election screwed up the collective psyche of the country. The reactions to the commercial and the Lady Gaga performance are mind boggling. Everyone is pissed off, nothing is legitimate and people are out for vengeance. It's truly amazing how messed up we are.

84Lumber's main customer demo is not hipster liberals on the coasts. Their marketing team, likely stocked with hipster coastal liberals who couldn't tell a 2x4 apart from a 1x6, likely had no idea.

The 84 piece shows a little girl (and her mother) risking her life to come to this country and even patching together a tiny American flag out of debris she finds along the way, and the first thing that comes to the minds of countless dipshits here is "ILLEGAL!" It, along with the very idea of Making America Great Again, shows contempt for this country and its neighbors.

Actually the first thing that came to mind was the lord of the rings

Regardless, if the message is confusing or unclear then it's a marketing failure. Pretty obvious what they meant though, and most people saw it the same way until they walked it back with that perplexing explanation

I work in marketing

The people who produce ads like this are your typical left wing types who live in Los Angeles, no different from Hollywood producers

The thing is in order to win awards in the industry and put together a reel that will impress people you have to tack left and go SJW, just like winning awards like Oscars.

Marketing firms and corporations have two different agendas. The marketing firm here probably sold this corporation on this idea

Unbelievably arrogant that they didn't even bother to delete those tweets before trying to sell this to their consumer base in revolt

Anyone who has any problem whatsoever with this commercial or with anything on tv at all is oozing with melt.

Were they always walking left to right? I only saw the commercial as it aired live, and I'm not going to give them the satisfaction of watching it again, giving their YouTube channel the traffic.

If you get snatched up by a drug cartel or human traffickers while crossing the desert, trying to get into the US illegally - sucks to be you.

i have a problem with shitty, I'll conceived marketing, and that to say nothing of the multi media marketing approach "watch the conclusion online"

I also find their new interpretation laughably insulting. It presupposes the stupidity of close to 100 million people

Without a doubt. The funny thing is there is no change to the interpretation of people who originally disliked it. The only ones singing a different tune are dumshit liberals

Yeah, I bet, real leaders encourage subordinates to air their disagreements, sucks to be surrounded by ladder-climbers too scared to do so.

A court of asskissers is okay if all you care about is being a placeholder.
