Mike Anderson

Otis Anderson

????

And why bring up last year?

We're talking about the Mike Shanahan one-cut era.
quote:

This style of running back has been a staple of the Shanahan offense for years. Terrell Davis, Orlandis Gary, Mike Anderson
quote:

Clinton Portis, Tatum Bell, Reuben Droughns, Mike Bell, Selvin Young, and Peyton Hillis, were all running backs who thrived in the Shanahan system, and aside from Portis(who had breakaway speed), none of these guys were very special. In fact, most of the running backs on this list were later round draft picks.

quote:

The genius of Mike Shanahan took these running backs, inserted them into his zone blocking system, watched them thrive, then traded away many of them for players or draft picks. Shanahan traded Clinton Portis to the Redskins, after coming off back-to-back 1500 yards seasons, for the best cover corner in the NFl, Champ Bailey, and a draft pick(let me repeat that - Bailey, AND A DRAFT PICK!). That pick was used to aquire Tatum Bell. Bell had a 1000 yard season with Denver before being part of a trade that brought the Broncos Dre Bly. Shanahan also got some value in trades for Droughns and Hillis.

yeah you're a hater... winning in the first 14 games didn't get them home field advantage? That sounds like getting them there

Those numbers don't even compare to Terrell Davis', regular season or playoffs. Some players go above and beyond the system. He could've succeeded and put up identical numbers in any offense because he was that good.

If the zone-blocking scheme was that special, everyone would use it. If it were that special, Denver would've put together a rushing attack to be feared this year, and not some pathetic shite seen every week. Same goes with last year.

He and Gary Kubiak run the same offense. Did you forget who was the offensive coordinator under Mike Shanahan?

All those players were pure crap and had Pro Bowl type years in that system. Tatum Bell played for the Florida freaking Tuskers for goodness sake. Terrell Davis was a stud for 3-4 years. If he'd been a stud for 8, 9, or 10 years sure he'd have been a no doubter, but there is no way in hell he deserves it, nor does Warner. Neither did it long enough, and Warner had 5 years of pure shite in the middle of his career. I mean worse than Brock Osweiler bad.

Kurt Warner - 12 Year Career
38th in Passing Yards 32,344
37th in Completed Passes 2,666
35th in Passing TD 208
10th in Passer Rating 93.7

Philip Rivers - 13 Year Career
12th in Passing Yards 45,833
10th in Completed Passes 3,811
8th in Passing TD 314
8th in Passer Rating 94.7

If Kurt Warner is HOF then Philip Rivers is first ballot HOF. And if that is the case we have a bunch of QBs to go to the hall over the next decade.

They don't compare but the point is that system made a bunch of no name RBs look good. TD also had a grand total of THREE elite seasons. How in the world is that enough for him to be deserving of a HOFer???

Ask the voters, but I don't think he was a first ballot HOFer.

There isn't a person alive that would trade Owen's career for Kurt Warner's. Go ask Owens, I'm positive he would trade it all to have a career like Warner's. That is just a fact. 2 time NFL MVP, in the Super Bowl 3x, a Super Bowl ring, Super Bowl MVP, not bringing up all his humanitarian and civic honors. Warner destroys Owens by pretty much every measure there is..

I don't think you know what a fact is

And of course, QBs are always looked at differently than the other positions. Can't really compare QBs to other players

Oops. Thinking of LT when typing about him. Still stand by my point of TD being undeserving.

It's a pretty big joke that he didn't make it. Kurt Warner and Terrell Davis making it in before him kind of highlights the joke that the process is. Those guys were great for a small window. TO was great for a decade.

You have to be really special to make the Hall with such a short career.

Like your line sucks but you are Sayers, Sanders special.

So Davis was better than his fellow journeymen RBs who also excelled?

This feels like Roger Maris had made the MLB HOF with Mantle batting after him.

So, TO was second or third at almost every statistical measurement at his position, yet your saying Warner was more impressive because he had a couple of years of better team success? Because I don't think TO would sniff the HOF if he was in the mid 30s statistically for most of his positions statistics.

Owens 5 time all pro
Warner 2 time all pro
