Obama had already singled those countries out extended vetting. This was nothing more than Trump pandering and you know it.
Trump knew this would happen. This board even predicted this would happen.

Then why did your man Obama put it into effect then?

So, liberals are in favor of unelected magistrates rulings over their duly elected leaders. Sounds like a good old monarchy is their game. This country does NOT deserve freedom, and by the looks of it, neither does it deserve safety either.
Ahh, but the life lessons will be very difficult to endure I am afraid.

It's not the same thing dude. Some of the same people who were okay under Obama's EO are banned under Trump's. Are you really going to debate that?

It makes no sense. There was no ban a few days ago and no one said a word. Now the ban is lifted and everyone's losing their minds. It's completely irrational.

Like I said, I'm not here to debate semantics. However, the four people in this thread "arguing" against me are doing exactly what I said, defending your side in the name of politics. Not one of you have shown any concern about safety. If you honestly think no one from any of those nations could do us harm, then you have won your argument. Congrats.

You are creating a false dichotomy. It's possible to be against the ban for non-political reasons. It's also possible to be focused on security while believing that the ban doesn't achieve it and/or is not constitutional.
You're letting your emotions drag you into irrational debate.

Nope

sure it is
some progs don't care about what the law is or the way the political winds blow and just have this irrational desire to "help people". that's very socio-personal and not political
some people probably are against the EO for cultural reasons, b/c they want more Muslims in the US
etc

Politics is morality being acted out in the public square, so bot those examples are someone's morality.
If you release a murderer from prison, you maybe helping the murderer, but you aren't helping society, so who gets to pick who gets "help"?

There is provision in the EO to clear them individually during the 3 month pause.
SO 90 more days is going to expose something that the previous 24 months of vetting, on average, has not exposed? And 90 more days of vetting by an administration which is working its arse off just to get up to speed, let alone get ahead?
I have no problem with a permanent ban based on religion alone. It is a good precedent and one that could soon be applied to Christians and Jews and the rest of the insane people in the world. But 90 days is simply checking a box of promise to the base....it does nothing but give the Jihadis ammunition and makes idiots in this country feel safe (I seriously doubt that there are more than a handful of people who actually feel safer...there are millions who will claim to but only a few truly insane ones who feel like they are in danger without the ban).

Why?
Trump's ban makes us less safe, harms us economically, and does direct harm to those we should seek to protect.
You're disgusting, that you don't want children to be able to seek proper medical care because they're Muslim.

That is EXACTLY what Trump did when he carved out loopholes for Saudi Arabia and Egypt, where terrorists have actually come from and killed citizens here. You think he's putting you first or his business first?

Seems as if they need medical attention so badly they would be willing to find it as soon as possible to a doctor near them as opposed to a doctor halfway around the globe knowing it will take considerable time to clear hurdles to get here.

Only in the sense that it could never be perfect. You do realize you're completely misrepresenting the context, correct? That you're completely wrong on what they meant, correct?
