T1 is already in India. They tried to move T2 to India as a trial run and it absolutely failed miserably. It actually almost cost us a few customer contracts (my customers are TMobile, ATT, Sprint, Verizon). They now keep T2 Stateside and T3 is shared between US/Indonesia/Espoo (Finland).
We just bought out our competitor to assume the majority of all major Telecom contracts in the US.
You should now be able to tell who I work for.

They should have multiplied the $60,000 base minimum to the inflation rate.
FWIW, in 1989 $60,000 is worth $116,132.42 in 2016.
I am good with that
makes sense

I am an Indian and I am on H1B. I have read the bill. I support everything that the bill proposes. It is good for US workers, it is good for H1B workers.
I doubt it will pass.
Similar bill was introduced before and it did not pass. Main opposition came from Immigration Lawyers's Lobby and all the consulting firms who are the main abusers of H1b.

There's no lobbying now. 5 year lobby ban.

Seriously. I hate static dollar amounts in legislation.
Yes, but Congress loves them.

The program should be illegal. If a US citizen can do the job, they should have the right to that job before any other foreign citizen. It's common practice all over the world. We shouldn't have to raise pay to weed them out. It should be flat out illegal, and slowly phased out to adjust with job transfers to American workers.

Crazy how much that sounds like a liberals argument when someone questions what why the top 1% should have their taxes increased.

this has been a fun election cycle so far, I pray it continues. I have actually been happy with a few things congress and trump are moving forward on, and I'm a card carrying Democrat who voted for Hillary

That was more of an attack on corporate greed in the tech world than about taxes. Corporate greed is driving the H-1B visa abuse.
Still an argument that progressives should easily be able to get behind - especially those with any exposure in the tech field. I posted in the thread yesterday news articles from NYT, WaPo, WSJ Brietbart, LA Times, and Mother Jones blasting this work visa abuse. It seems to me that there is bipartisan frustration with the way things are now. It might be the one part of Trump's immigration policy that progressives can get behind.

No problem with this concept, but I'd make it around $90K for existing and $130K for new hires, if that is a fair number.
Losing all your H1-B workers if you can't pay them double could really disrupt companies in the short term, which could cause a ripple effect disrupting a lot of the most productive part of our economy. These dramatic changes cannot be good.
I agree with the overall concept though and understand it. Just use some sense.

I understand, its just that your reasoning was "cry me a river a rich person will have 3 houses instead of 4" which is an argument I, as a lib, have made many times regarding progressive taxation.

It needs to happen, but I agree that it has to happen delicately...and with fair warning.
