Damn, that must have been a cushy gig in the past two decades. High demand, lagging supply, lots of turnover...what an easy commission.

What if he relocated central HQ for different federal departments across different states? My God.

Love this move by Trump. I hope he finds a couple more ways to limit lobbying, too, but this is a great step.

send them all to seriously red states to diffuse their political impact. spin it as spreading federal resources to poor states instead of centralizing them in DC, NoVA, Maryland, etc

i can make an argument why this is bad. it's kind of scary to completely limit the economic value of a former public servant
that's some authoritarian shite
This will never be repealed for the same reason that Ron Paul couldn't gain enough traction to credibly run for President.
And besides if they had enough economic value to work in the White House of all places, surely they can translate that value into something short term that provides a steady paycheck until the five years are over.

now i know the counter is: well they knew what they signed up for, BUT that only applies to anyone who was employed in this capacity after the EO
Well its a good counter because it works as the same logic for a private company.

The people of Alabama graciously accept the relocation of the Department of Energy to Elkmont.

I don't know that they will. I'm a dem and this is a win as far as I can tell.
Get term limits and I'll really be impressed.

Actually on second thought shouldn't they be sent to deep blue states? Those government departments are full of liberals everywhere and I think they could pose a risk to turning a red state purple.
