I'm sure China will be happy to lower their tariffs for Mexico and take some of that off their hands.
And American consumers will be happy to purchase products formerly purchased from Mexico from Singapore, Malaysia, etc instead. But we will still generate tax revenue from Mexico. And I guess the prices on some products will increase marginally. And we will probably never see any wage inflation in this country to offset this due to increased economic activity, because higher wages offsetting higher prices on a few products doesn't factor in to the equation.
Meanwhile, back in the real world, the only things that really matters is when Americans ask themselves this question, am I better off now than I was 4 years ago?
Your bet, and I don't presume to put words in your mouth, but only base this off of your posts, is no. My bet is yes.
We can check back 2020 and see who was correct.

That 20% figure is just being thrown out there to scare Mexico into coming back to the negotiation table. It's not set in stone.

Wouldn't the picture you posted prove that Trump is doing what in his mind is best for the Country? If he is willing to basically kill his own line of clothing.....

Of course they don't.
All the more reason to buy American and stimulate our own economy, support business growth in America, and employ more unemployed Americans who will be happier and vote for conservatives! Win, win, win!!!

Where do Trumps clothes get made? Is he gonna start making his clothes in the US or continue to be a hypocrite?

This will mean more factories back in the US where they belong. And I will be happy to pay $5 more for a sweater in order to put hundreds of thousands more US CITIZENS to work, AND get them off of welfare thus lowering taxes. Or 30¢ more for a bag of carrots. Wouldn't you? Why can't people see the bigger picture here?
....also, upping commodity prices on beans, wheat, corn, and produce allowimg our farmers to stay in business. This will, in turn, allow more money for ag R&D, bringing higher yields which will keep consumer prices in the states low and allow us more bushels for export to help even more with the hunger crisis looming in underdeveloped countries (like Mexico). After all, the best way to show love is to feed them, right?
In short:. YOU ARE WELCOME, MEXICO!

The problem is that if we lay a tax in remittances, then Mexico could turn around and tax goods they buy from the US.
Mexico has more leverage than most Trump White Knights like to acknowledge.

It wouldn't basically kill his line of clothing. He owns the brad. He doesn't have them manufactured in Mexico. Where his clothes are manufactured is driven by the distributors, not by what is essentially his ownership of a brand or intellectual property.
90Proof knows this, and I've brought it up to him numerous times. He never has a response.
It's just not as simple as either side thinks it is, and the answers aren't traditional economic answers.
But if Trump's clothes were tariffed in Mexico the price goes up scream th academics. Except for that is false. Trump still owns the brand, and macy's demands a wholesale price, macy's drives the manufacturing away from Mexico to Singapore.
It happens all the time. And pre election I cited several actual examples. Matell's Big Wheels. Which Matell doesn't even own. Wal Mart drives the manufacturer. Matell pays a guy in my home town to put the Matell name on the toy. And if they are incentivized to manufacture in the USA, they will. Which they did. These are now made in China dn Michigan.
This claim of Trump's clothing line is another piece of fake news. It slips by becuase no one really wants to think it through. Trump owns a brand name. Someone else manufacturers this. He has nothing to do with manufacturing anything.

To the extent that this is true, the tariff has no effect and raises no revenue, while the consumer has the benefit of their initial best choice taken from them. To the extent that it raises revenue, it is paid by American consumers and/or American producers.

Show me exactly how Trump manufacturers in Mexico. The picture you posted earlier only proves his brand, that he gets paid for, has someone manufacturing it in Mexico.
So let's start with your original claim. Prove your original claim.

How about you prove first that we have ever talked about things related to Trump's brand & distributors or whatever, as you asserted? Because I don't recall it happening a single time. Let alone "numerous times".
^There's a clear-cut and easily-provable claim you have made that I'm calling bullshite on.
Then, please describe what my "original claim" was, exactly.

The reason we use Mexican products is because of the price. Do you think Mexican imports are going to be able to raise their prices by 20% and be able to compete? They will raise their prices, but it won't be nearly enough for it to really affect our way of life.
Mexicans will feel it much more than Americans will.

He spent multiple pages arguing with DisplacedBuckeye regarding a previous argument with ME about Dairy Season.
He even quoted my posts, yet despite DisplacedBuckeye insisting that they weren't his statements, plus the fact my name was in plain sight, he continued to insist it was displaced.
IG seems pretty bright, but I don't think his name recognition abilities are a strength.

Hmm. Age seems a likely culprit.
