I'm pretty sure that's how CBS got the show idea, by reading the OT.

I only caught part of the episode but that dude who created a random gmail account and sent login info to people he needs help from, but only communicates with unsent drafts was pretty brilliant

Pretty sure that thread got moved to the movie/tv board.

Oh and the idiots that got caught on day 1 in the first episode should've never been cast.

Hey, let's use the ATM at the bus station. What a couple of idiots.

I like the show but it feels really staged. Would probably be better if it wasn't on network TV.

How stereotypical was it that the black women got busted going to the salon.

This seems very dramatized. How does CBS have access to all of these resources like cell phone tower tracking?

Seems like the best strategy is just to get supplies and then go off the grid completely. Just go camp out in some remote woods for 28 days.

My kid and I like watching the show together so I don't want to ruin it for him but I agree that it feels staged. Whenever someone's being filmed, there has to be at least one cameraman. Tonight, a couple asked a random guy for a ride and the shot was from a cameraman inside the car! The guy said no. The hunters are doing aerial searches for two guys in a kayak? Nah, they're looking for two guys in a kayak and at least one other vessel with a film crew.

Yeah. I also don't know how CBS would get access to things like interstate licensee plate cameras. Overall seems to complicated to be able to accurately replicate.

It does however, raise interesting questions about going on the run. Seems like you need to totally avoid technology.

Seems like another fake/rigged 'reality' show.

A few things that most people don't realize:

EVERY piece of mail is scanned and put in a data base somewhere that is easily accessible by LE/Feds.

EVERY phone call, land-line and/or cell phone is easily traceable.

Last info I found on cell phones:

* There are over 300,000 cell towers in the USA, and another 600,000 'micro' sites nationwide.

*EVERY cell phone(burner phones included) 'pings' cell towers every 7 seconds, registering their location to within 150 feet.

* Your cell phone company keeps a record for EVERY search you make and EVERY web-page you visit. They keep this info on file for a year(if not longer).

* AT&T has location info back to the year 2008.

* Same for your ISP, they have EVERY e-mail, EVERY web site you have visited on file for a long time.

*Same for your bank and credit/debit cards. They have EVERY transaction you have on file.

* There are lots and lots of CCTVs EVERYWHERE that can be accessed by LE & the Feds.

The list goes on.

Bottom line, you are being watched & recorded, this info is keep on you for a long time.

Sounds like the rules provided are pretty one-sided against the contestants.

A few observations that I have:

I believe the rules state that you cannot have a prepared bug-out bag.

Have a good hiking bag near-by with all needed provisions within reach...lightweight tent, water tablets, canteen, bivy sleeping bag, water filter( like a good Sawyer or Katdyn), fire starter, a few Mountain House freeze dried bags of food

Forget the ATM cash cards they provide you. Work for cash, mow a yard, clean-up a lot etc. Make a deal with someone to do 'side work' for cash money or food and provisions.
.
If you must access an ATM card to get cash, pay some little kid $10 to get the money out of an ATM and stay in the background closely(just in case he tries to run off with your money).

*Ditch the cell phones all-together, pay some kid to relay hand-written notes to critical contacts & let your contacts know this before hand.

* Use a 'burner phone' briefly and then throw it the back of someones truck or plant it somewhere on someones vehicle.

*Use public/library Internet very briefly if need be. Don't do ANY prior research on your home PC/cell phone. Do this on a a public library PC, try to log in as a guest far away from your usual path.

NEVER use your job/work or friends Internet to do research for your challenge. Stay as 'gray' as you can.

* Shutdown ANY/ALL Social Media. I hate Facebook, Twitter...your life will be so much better without these.

* Have family, friends, associates to intentionally mislead investigators. Offer them a 'cut' of the prize money to do this among other deceptive tactics.

Sorry if TL

I agree with most of that. It seems like a bag packed to survive a month in the wild + a bunch of MREs + a good water filter, would allow you to just go for a 30 day hike.

i caught about 5-10 minutes of this last night and couldn't watch any more.

they go to this one friend of a contestant's house.

sir we'd like to go inside.

No, yo can't go inside

Sir, we'd really like to go inside

okay, you can go inside

sir, we'd like to go in the attic

No, you can't go in the attic

Sir, we really need to check the attic

okay, let me haul this big arse ladder in so you can get in my attic.

WTF?

And each team has a camera crew following them?
Seems fair.

Yeah. That was absurd. The "hunters" acting like they are FBI agents is stupid. Overall I find the show amusing, just because it makes you wonder about strategy.

A lot of it is reenactment of what the people did on the run. I think the only contemporaneous shots are in the investigation center and maybe some shots from the hunters.

Me and my buddy were talking about this show the other day.

I think your best strategy is to immediately go and withdraw money from 5 ATMs that are in the general area and then run like hell into the woods. Do your research in public libraries prior to the chase. Buy a burner phone and only call friends/family that would never be expected. Preferably find a cave in the mountains of Georgia and just try not to go crazy for a few weeks.

It would be difficult but not impossible.

Make sure you are driving a car built before 2010 as well, all cars from 2010 on up have a GPS tracking device.

I've watched every episode and my roommate and I have just come up with how to win.

Leave for a day, go camp out somewhere for a day while they go through your place. Then just go back home and turn off your cell phones and hang out for 4 weeks watching tv. It's better than camping and they never go back to the people's homes.

I like this show. The first episode some big dude wore some horrible wig, and stood out like a sore thumb. I keep forgetting it's on Sunday night.

if they know the numbers you might call, they find that burner pretty quickly

Maybe but you could also use a tablet and make calls on Google talk or any number of VOIP apps off Wi Fi

If you really know what your doing you can reroute the calls off different overseas or out of state servers.
