You can't really use this year as a litmus test. Coaching changes always cause problems with recruits during the first year. The next two to three classes will tell us more about the situation.

I mostly agree in principle, however if Coach O is able to turn in a class that is close to our normal level of talent, then I think this class is part of the test. As someone said earlier, he not only stopped the bleeding, but healed the wound (if who we think will sign, does)

Then 2018 is the test to see if he can sustain it

What he does from September to January is what will count and change opinions of the hire.

this is just the tip of the iceberg. next year will be even better. just look at what Kirby is doing with his second recruiting class at uga.

Jr will be lights out next year. Will have a shot at best ever at LSU.

I have to disagree here, Miles did have some issues in recruiting. Miles didn't hit all the areas of need every year and we were always short on quality depth at a position or several positions. He also didn't do a very good job in keeping guys here after their 3rd year, even if they weren't high draft picks with the exception of last year. QB recruiting wasn't the best under Miles either. We also sucked at competing with Bama for recruits, including our own homegrown recruits. Did he do exceptionally well abesulutly he did but to compete for championships you need to stack your deck every year especially at positions of need, specifically on the lines of scrimmage and we didn't always do that very well under Miles. We missed on tons of talent over the years that frankly if we would of gotten, we would probably have another ship or two. Miles was also terrible at having quality backup plans for recruits so that if we missed on one we replaced him with another just as good or better now he did hit on some of these but not enough IMO. This staff is going to flip that script and make LSU the place to be or we will just replace you school. IMO we will start to see more quality commits early in the process because these recruits will know that if that spot isn't taken it will be filled very quickly. They will have to balance this so that we get the very best we can but I trust O knows exactly what he's doing and will be much more aggressive instead of the passive type recruiting we've seen from Miles. Yes we want you, you are our top guy but we need commits so if you like what we offer let's get rolling. Results will of course help with this and I believe we will see positive results on the field as well. GT

Are you guys starting to be happy with the hire?
I was thrilled with the hire from the moment it happened. I've always wanted LSU to hire a homie as its head coach (but please win) since it seems every other coach that rolls in uses LSU as a stepping stone to other opps.

CEO will be great.

Les Miles used LSU as a stepping stone to what, exactly? Retirement?

I expect coach o to succeed.

If he can pull two or even three additional five stars that will grease the skids for next year.
He needs to finish top 8.

He must beat bama at least once in next two years to quell the best locals from running to the bandwagon. Two years in a row beating bama will put lsu on top of the mich, osu, tx, clem, bama, uga, nd, fsu recruiting dog fight.

There is no doubt in my mind that this chances are better than recent Miles' were, especially with Aranda/Candada.

He left Acadiana here in LFT about 30 minutes ago. Really hitting the bricks hard. Good things will happen.
