I'm looking to put some new tires on the Tundra and I really like the Nitto Ridge Grapplers. They make a 35x11.50R20 and I'm not positive it will fit.

I spoke with a guy who builds shackles and shims (coachbuilder) and he said they should fit, but it would be pretty close. These tires have a decent side lug and I don't know if that wouod be counted in the width or not.

In the case that they dont fit, has anyone here had any experience with wheel spacers? Looks like reviews are mixed. I would be going with the smallest I could find and they would be good quality.

I ran them on my jeep (spidertrax) and am thinking about a set for my truck. I want to lift it and keep the factory wheels but the backspacing isn't right. In reading up I will either go with Bora or Spidertrax - make sure they are also hub centric. Another note, most wheel/tire places won't touch them so you will probably have to install. Make sure to follow the instructions and also check them based on the frequency provided. I never had any issues with them on my Jeep.

I use spidertrax on a fj cruiser.

Hubcentric, had no issues with balancing.

Most national tire shops won't touch your truck if they know there are spacers.
I've had mine for 30-40k miles with no issues.

Use hubcentric if you must use a spacer. Best solution is new wheels with more offset

Also here's a recent thread on them

I run them on my wrangler, but am not sure I'd run them on a full size truck. Although many guys do. Check out bora spacers

I've had them before to fit some 37's. I hated them because the tires stuck out from the wheel wells and threw mud and rocks all over the truck. Just going down a dirt road for 1/4 a mile and the truck was covered in mud. It looked liked you buried it in mud. I think they were 1" or 1.5" spacers.

I run 2" on my ram 1500. The deal is is you want hubcentric spacers not the slip on kind, but the down fall is is if you go with less than 2" i am pretty sure they have to cut your studs back some because they will stick out past the spacer not allowing your tire to seat. I dont have a problem with mine

DownSouthDave, sorry man I didn't get a chance to visit the OB yesterday!! I'm actually running my new tired without the spacers. I went for a second opinion and the guys at the shop told me that I was good. Also, they said IF I run spacers to go with a good quality. Some can damage your lugs etc.

What size tire?

I really want the 35x11.50r20, but they make a 275/65r20 that isnt really that much smaller. Ill probably go with it unless i know for sure I dont need a spacer, I really dont feel like messing with them. It just seems like a huge cost for something I dont want in the first place.

I'm running the 35x11.50r20. There's a very verrrry small gap between the tire and arm but I was told that we are all good. I check the inside of my tire daily to assure that there is no rubbing and so far so good

First reason I took them off my XJ.

All comes down to rim offset, and tire brand. The advertised size is never ever true to the real size. Have a set of 315/70r17 duratracs on factory dodge rims and require about a 1/4" slip on spacer to clear. The factory 20s with cheap thunderer 35/12.50r20 fit with no spacers at all.

Those cheap thunderer tires have given me 36k mi to date and will probably give me another 5-7k. They are an aggressive mud tire with side lugs to boot.

Not to derail the thread, but...

i absolutely despise the looks of tires sticking out. Its okay for a Jeep, but on trucks it just doesnt look right.
