General Motors set to announce $1B factory investment, new jobs

The announcement comes after President-elect Donald Trump has attacked GM and other automakers for building vehicles in Mexico and shipping them to the U.S.
Earlier this month, Trump threatened on Twitter to tax GM for importing the compact Chevrolet Cruze. While GM builds hatchback Cruzes in Mexico, most Cruze sales are Ohio-built sedans.
On the eve of the Detroit auto show press days last week, GM CEO Mary Barra said the company has no plans to change where it produces small cars due to Trump's threats.
We should all be thankful that Obama's commitment to American manufacturing has helped push investment like this after the election.

All this before he's even in office.
What's Obama been doing for the past 8 years besides race baiting? He's going to be remembered as this "great president, who broke down all these racial barriers" but the truth is, he's been the worst president since.... hell, you can make a case for worst ever.

Don't worry, every democrat will give Obama credit

The best part is they can't. Many of these CEOs have come out and said that this is because of trump. Takes the wind right out of that sail.

B.O. Will go down in history as the absolute worst president in history for those not stricken with a protectionist agenda

Multiple factories will get part of the money, but GM does not plan to state where the new jobs will go, according to the person. The company plans to use the announcement to tout both blue-collar and white-collar U.S. jobs it has created in recent years, the person said.

The article is confusing. It looks like GM is still going to build some Cruze models in Mexico. And it's not clear whether any new jobs are being created in the U.S.
Create or keep?
It doesn't look like GM has changed any plans here.

You realize that the stimulus package that saved GM was pushed by the Obama administration (& the Bush admin).

The investment is part of the normal process of equipping factories to build new models, and it's been planned for months, the person told The Associated Press.
Should we really credit Trump for something that was probably planned before he was elected?

He's an empty suit.
The thought of Trump being president is pushing a lot of these companies to move forward with investments that have been delayed or shelved.
This involves moving axle and component production from Mexico to Michigan.

You mean, for helping save GM? Something the conservatives on this board were strongly against.
Thanks Obama!
