This is on point. I mean they basically just blew their load with a great villain in one movie and he basically can't be used anymore.

After two movies in the DCEU millions were killed when downtown Metropolis was destroyed, Zod and Faora are dead, Jimmy Olsen is also dead after being shot in the face, Luthor is disgraced and in jail, Doomsday is dead, and Superman himself is dead.
Blew their load is an understatement.
