How long has Frei been a US citizen? I think it's been a few years.

Honestly, he could step right in once he's eligible and be our No. 2 keeper at worst. Howard is aging and dealing with injury and Guzan is inconsistent. Frei, Bingham, and Horvath would be a nice young corps of keepers to building around.

frei is only a few months younger than guzan.

Wow, haha. Being bald doesn't help his age perception. Guzan looks a lot older than he is.

Anyways, I think Frei would more than hold his own on the USMNT. Surprised Switzerland never cap-tied him. Not like they have a ton of great keepers right now. Their loss.

Both of their top keepers start in the Bundesliga for good teams.

I'm not saying I want that to happen, but it's what going to happen with him as HC. He's been a MLS coach for over a decade, he's going to prefer a lot of players he coached and coached against. Familiarity and such.

shite came out like 40 minutes ago and I'm still the guy having to post this crap. I thought you Klinsmann haters would be all on this.

Hate would be premature, despite it being Wondo.

It's a January camp...for only MLS players.

Now if he is on the roster, unleash the fury.

Still a long way from Jurgy who regularly played him in matches.

Side note: wasn't the flag up on that Wondo WC shank, albeit erroneously? So even if he slammed it home it wouldn't have counted?

I'm like 95 percent sure that the commentators originally said the flag was up, but then a minute or so afterwards cleared up that it wasn't.

It was like a moment where they were so shocked at how bad the attempt was, they just figured it was because he saw the flag up in the corner of his eye or something.

He was definitely, 100 percent onside though.

ETA: Found an article about it

quote:

At the time of the missed shot, ESPN announcers stated that a linesman had raised a flag indicating Wondolowski was offside, but replays showed he was in an onside position when Jones headed the ball toward him. The stats of the match at FIFA.com later showed that the U.S. was not whistled for offside during the 120-minute clash at Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador.

Thanks.

I remember being frozen with mouth agape for about 30 seconds. And I remember the announcers saying Wondo was called offside and them going on about what a horrible call it was..."Oh my he's onside by a mile!"

No way he makes it until March and Zusi might win a backup FB role.

Bill Hamid is better than any of these three.

Hamid isn't nearly consistent enough to really contend. I'd take Horvath over the others as he's doing better already at a younger age.

Tough break for Hamid with the injuries of the past couple years.

Good keeper.
