Old Key West
Never stayed here but going in April and staying. Sounds like this is your place if you want to be relatively close to Disney Springs/Epcot. Have been in the past and stayed at Bay Lake. Bay Lake was nice because 1. Monorail ran to it 2. Close to Magic Kingdom 3. Can watch fireworks from the roof

Did Bay Lake feel too far away from everything?

With us wanting to do Epcot and Disney Springs at night, especially during Food and Wine festival, is it easy to get to from there?

Every resort will have a bus that will take you to Any of the parks plus one for Disney springs. We are staying at Bay Lake in October and it looks like it will take roughly 20 mins by bus. You could also take the resort monorail to the transportation center and then get on the Epcot monorail, looks like doing that one would be about 30-40 mins travel time depending how you time catching the monorail

I prefer Magic Kingdom so it was within walking distance to there. You can catch the monorail from Bay Lake to Epcot so that wouldn't be a big deal. Disney Springs may be a little difficult to get to though

Always stay on property and AK is a 1 day park. I usually hit it hard and roll out around 3.

Wilderness Lodge is much closer to Magic Kingdom so if you're wanting proximity to Epcot and Disney Springs I would go with Old Key West. My parents are DVC members and Old Key West is our home location. They've stayed there a few times and have no complaints. You will likely only be in your rooms to sleep anyway so I would go with what's most convenient to what you're wanting to do and that sounds like OKW.

something i just read in the fine print at Davids rentals,

1. All sales are final and no refund
2. No housekeeping included unless you do more than 8 nights. $30 a day for housekeeping

that might be a deal breaker. Thoughts?

It's a condo. They'll replace towels and clean out trash every 3/4 days and do a full clean after 7. It's no big deal.

Sales are final because you are renting points from a current owner who is making the reservation for you. Once it's made (sometimes with banked points), they can't always get those points back. So no "refund" for them = no refund for you.

OP is going in the fall. Pandora is supposed to be open by then. That could easily make Animal Kingdom a full day park.

Pandora will draw a lot more crowds to Animal Kingdom especially to that area of the park it will be at because there wasn't much there before.

We went to Animal Kingdom one afternoon during Mardi Gras last year and the park was empty, we literally did everything with our fast passes including Everest set in about an afternoon, Animal Kingdom is also the one that closes early most days.

They are open till 7 most days now. IF the Rivers Of Light show ever starts, I imagine that thye may stay open later. The sunset safari and the Tree of life awakenings happen after dark.

We stayed at wilderness lodge and enjoyed it. Nothing crazy special, but nice and a nice proximity to things. The BBQ restaurant there is sorta fun too

Avatar should extend AK hours a bit later than the current times.

Remember what Pandora looked like after dark.
