Have you seen a copy of the test?
I paid for the test, and the courts require it, so yes

So she let the other guy believe it was his kid and now she wants money from you?

If he has ball skillz, feed him raw meat and train him Marinovich style while offering strong warnings about HERON.

Just love him and spend as much time as you can with him. Tell him every chance you get that you love him. I can't help with the getting to know him part. But I have 3 boys 5/4/1 and the main thing they need is love and support and discipline but ease into that, has to be hard on the kid finding out who he thought was his dad isn't.
If you do it right your relationship will have no lasting consequences and he prolly won't even remember he thought somebody else was his dad.
Like I said love him and let him know that verbally and through your actions. Show him attention but don't let him be a brat. You can explain things when he is older, just be there for him.
And congrats and dude thanks for stepping up and doing the right thing. You are in for a bumpy but very rewarding ride.

Not all that much. More expensive more than anything.

Any positive advice would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah, never come to the OT for a question such as this.

Wow. Were you hoping it was yours? Are you in love with her?

Just here to show my appreciation for making me appreciate my life a little bit more than before reading this thread.

Hate to ask but is the ex husband on the birth certificate?
Posted on 1/2/17 at 10:24 pm to lsu777
Oh also, if there is a chance that his mother could be somebody you could marry, give it a chance.

You believe that story?
You are quite good at such theorizing

Congratulations!
Just be a good father to him. Unfortunately, the mother will probably take most of your money and still limit access. Don't trust her and be guarded about what you say.
Get an arranged visitation schedule and hold her to it. She will try to use you for her convenience. Don't allow that to happen. You are his father, not her babysitter.

Think of what a good Dad should be and be that person. I ask my Dad how to raise my kids the night before he died, his answer was, " Don't buy them everything they want, and dont deprive them of nothing they need." Spend time with your Son and tell him that you love him.

My son is 6 and this is my favorite time so far. I love picking him up from school and hearing about his adventures. Then we go get Sonic and maybe watch a movie.
Just be there as often as possible, make fun memories, and keep the peace with his mother. If all that happens then it's a great thing.

No, I didn't mean his side of the story. I meant the bullshite that the chick fed him.
Look, if I've learned anything, and I've seen it from every side of the coin, it's that you can't believe anything from the mouth of a cheater.

Congrats man!!
Just be there, the little things mean the most. Be a man and carry your weight financially, don't put the kid in the middle of you and your ex. The love for your child will change and deepen you in ways you never imagined. This is great news for you!

This actually happened to a friend of mine, he knocked up some random chick in his dad's RV at the Daytona 500 and she spent almost 4 years trying to track him down. His family even has a reality TV show although I don't think the little kid is mentioned. True story.
