He was completely removed from all team activities for a year. That's a fact
Didn't lose any eligibility AND didn't have to practice? The poor guy.

I feel like the refs missed about 12 penalties on that run

He lost a year from his football career, he's not staying at OU for five years

Best pass ever. Looked like a punt.

and retained eligibility
Even if he would have been kicked off, he would have transferred somewhere else and still would have used the redshirt.

So what?
He got 4 full years of football to play. There is no suspension there.

Any watching on SECN? They've got Spears, Doering, Stinchcomb, and Dari breaking it down as the game goes

I think what Stoops was saying is that the environment has changed since 2014. In 2014 it was acceptable to punish a player for an incident like that by suspending him for a year. Post Ray Rice the only acceptable thing is dismissal.
I'm honestly torn on this. The kid obviously did a bad thing, what I don't know is has he redeemed himself? Is he now a model student and teammate who gives back to the community? If he is then I would say that is a good redemption story that many people can learn from. Much better than throwing him out the door and nothing good coming out of the situation.
If I was Stoops I wouldn't have sat him for a single play this game. Just because the video came out now doesn't mean any new punishment is warranted. It only makes you look weak. I would have stuck to my guns and said the player has been punished already.

Between A&M being a dumpster fire and Joe Mixon being allowed to play organized football I'm quickly losing my desire to watch CFB anymore. Scorching take I know

Blame the NCAA if you don't like the rules. You get 5 years to play 4

He can but he won't and everyone knew he won't when he was punished.

He could be a damn saint now for all we know. It doesn't matter. That exact school has kicked out students for less. He was able to stay because of how good of a football player he is.
