The correct answer on all of this is the jury is out on
we should start a thread and see who liked the hire and who didn't, then we could check it each year. That would be fun

It may not turn out being good. I don't know that yet, nor does anyone else. I'm on board though and ready to give him a chance. I'd just as soon had him as fedora, and we didnt mortgage our program with a $70m commitment, so if it doesn't work we won't have a problem moving on.

For. Was for from the beginning.
1. Averaged almost 40 pts per game(excluding bama)
2. Speaks in coherant sentances
3. Beat petrino and the heisman winner soundly.
4. Plays the correct personel
5. Great recruiter
6. From La
7. Better coach than the previous guy in every aspect of the job and the previous guy (was) considered one of the top coaches in the country
8. Coach O was a safe sound hire. Anyone else would have been a gamble. ( i never liked jimbos offense)

I guess we remember things differently. I seem to recall the cheerios crediting O for wins and blaming the Florida loss on the players (as did O).

He was a safe hire compared to who was available to come to LSU. No coach is in reality a sure thing "safe hire".

No, he wasn't.

He was a comfortable hire.

jimbo was probably the safer hire (albeit with out much upside), Herman was just as risky however neither wanted to come here anyway. So that left people like Fedora, which O seems the safer hire than those guys. So in that regard I agree that obviously Alieva f'ed up the search by not interviewing Fleck but the end result of getting coach O was probably the best outcome anyway if you look at all that transpired since he took over for Miles in totality.

You peeps are blind

Just judging by this season alone, he is far better than miles (not even close)
I will agree that he may only be an average head coach (we will see) but average is all we need to win 10 per year ( les is way below average and he did that)

Hate the hire, hate the "search", hate the suggestion that we're better off with a local, hate that local media is in the bag for our coach rather than being impartial because one day we may need them to be, and abhor our AD...

Love the program, love the players, and wish for success beyond our wildest dreams...same as I have since I was a 12 year old in 1982 and fell in love with LSU Football.

Those are not incompatible and only a fricking moron would think they are.

Happy 2017 and Geaux Tigers.

O didn't coach a 'season'. He took over Miles' program and made it more fun to watch. However it's impossible to say that Miles would have done better or worse than 6-2. O's style is certainly more fun to watch. The only true way to judge O is to wait a couple years, because that is a true test of a coach. Anyone can win a few games. But the question is can you maintain a successful program over time? Les Miles may have been on the decline and he definitely deserved to get the boot however he did maintain a successful program for a longer period than most coaches can do.

We should Never settle for average.

Holy shite.

Just to be clear I wanted Les Miles fired a couole years ago. But to call him "way below average" is pretty idiotic.
