Over rated in HS. Total bust at LSU. Saints figured it was our coaching and they could fix him.

Then they realized Woods was junk. They probably still blame LSU who left Woods on the bench.

He was a 5 star who stat the bench until 2009.

He played in 41 games for the Tigers, including the SEC and national title games as a sophomore. From LSUsports.net:

quote:

One of the top backup defensive linemen on the squad and in the SEC ... Played in 12 of the Tigers’ 14 games, including the BCS National Championship Game ... Finished the year with 22 tackles – 13 solo and nine assisted – with two sacks for a loss of 15 yards ... His three fumble recoveries tied for the SEC lead with South Carolina’s Eric Norwood ... Added one quarterback hurry ... Earned his first career start against Tulane, getting the nod at right tackle ... Finished the game with two tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery ... Registered a career-high five tackles in the win over Louisiana Tech ... Had four stops versus Tennessee in the SEC Championship Game.

Anyways, that wasn't what you had said in the first place. Here, I'll help you out:

He played all 4 years at LSU, and started his entire senior season. That is not being left on the bench. Now you're backtracking after being caught eating your arse.

Glad you rolled on the ground thinking he was a great player.

Quote where I said he was a great player?

No doubt he was a bust for the Saints. Please quote where I said otherwise.

The Titans website actually has him listed as their starting NT too

Just signed a 3 year deal

quote:

Woods, 28, had a solid season in the middle for the Titans last season, playing in 14 games – starting nine – and registering 31 tackles (three for loss) and three quarterback pressures.

44 LSU players in the nfl (43 technically according to you crazies because they count Breaux in that number). That's barely more than 1 LSU player per NFL roster. It really isn't that crazy that there are "soooooo many LSU players in the NFL and the Saints have none!!!!" ... Nowhere near the type of anomaly you people seem to think it is.

6'4 - 311 pounds. 5 star rating, yet couldn't even start in college until he was a senior. Yes, he's finally got it together, but he was a 4th round draft pick that the Saints cut the first year. Lots of great LSU talent the Saints passed on, then take the guy who was a huge disappointment at LSU. It's just weird.

My belief is that it depends on the individual player. If the Saints felt like the LSU player was obviously the best on the board they would take him, but my thought is that all things being equal Payton and staff would rather not spend a draft pick on a local kid that could come with some hangers.

Sometimes it is better for these kids to get away from their associates and band of friends and family that are going to have their hands out for everything from tickets to gifts.

Who the frick cares. The saints haven't drafted Tulane players and no one blinks an eye. Do people seriously think the saints pass on a player just because he went to lsu?

Honestly, LSU and the Saints have had horrible d-line coaches. The is no reason for Mingo, Mongomery, Hunter, and even Woods to be so underdeveloped as pass rushers coming into the NFL. I'd watch Dline play during games and wonder were the hell is the arm and hand usage. It was either the speed rush or shoulder push moves. Thank god Brick Haley is gone.

Shouldn't you tell this to people who say the league colluded with teams to suppress Collins' draft position?

Miles and Payton always have a lengthy conversation during LSU pro days. This hot take is just a dumb conversation brought up by them

They can't all come up with original content like "what's your favorite Christmas present as a child" or "favorite old tv theme song" that Deke brings to the table.

How the Saints missed on La'el Collins is beyond belief. To say that all the other teams missed on him is no excuse. The Saints are only 75 miles down the road from LSU. They had the inside track to know every aspect of Collins as a player, person and know every inside detail of the issue. Wasting a pick on Grayson and passing on Collins cannot be excused. There is clearly something wrong in the scouting department and the direction given by either Loomis or Payton (who know which is really in charge of talent selection).

Aw man, you think our scouting department sucked and didn't know Collins was good and THAT'S why we didn't draft him?

I'm mad now.
