It is what most teams would do (rest starters) but in this case if backup (Romo) does well it might turn into a controversy.

Thoughts?

they are definitely in an advantageous position.

thing is, the Lions need to win to keep their playoff spot locked down I think

No Dak needs all the reps he can get. You don't want to go three weeks without any reps. Practice reps and playoff reps are a big time difference.

He doesn't need three weeks of rest.

I don't think you change a thing this week. You prepped all week to play.

Play the game, play it like it matters.

You think Garrett and Jerry are gonna risk a controversy? We all know Romo would come in and show just how good this offense really could be if he plays, saying he wouldn't just makes you ignorant.

Will the NFL ever learn that resting starters is never a good idea?

Let's take 3 weeks off then play when it really counts. It never worked for the Colts, but let's try it.

No, split Zeke's carries now that AM is back, and only put in Romo if Dak can't play.

What's this obsession with Tony Romo? He's been the QB for so long and what does he have to show for it? Not a damn thing. 1 playoff win? Einsteins defintion of insanity applies here. He keeps losing in playoffs. It's a joke.

If they're smart, yes.

They have to realize there's a legit chance Dak struggles in the playoffs based on his playing style being conservative. A great NFL defense can give that style trouble, though DAL can overcome it with their Oline.

But that being said, there's a real chance Dak struggles, and it's the 3rd quarter of the NFC CG, and they're down 17-3 mid 3rd quarter, and why would you NOT go to Romo at that point? And if there's any chance of doing that, I'd want Romo coming in with at least a few reps and not without having played once all season.

Its the smart play to get Romo reps.

I really believe teams shouldn't rest offensive starters leading up to the playoffs. Just look at the Colts from the 2000s. Every year, they used to clinch early and rest Manning and their top players in the last week or last couple weeks of the season. And in the playoffs, the Colts would always play well below their regular season standards. But there was one year they didn't. That was in 2006. The Colts were still playing for a first round bye in the last week of the season so they played all of their starters. Guess what season ended up being the only year Manning won a Super Bowl with the Colts? Of course injuries happen but keeping starters sharp is critical for playoff success.

I can't believe a player would give up on his team and rest up for the next level.
