Looks like my child is gonna have to have a cyst removed off her thyroid. Anyone recommend a pediatric surgeon in Baton Rouge?

Been awhile but Dr. Faith Hansbrough did excellent work on one of my kids

Maybe a second opinion.

Believe it or not I had the exact same surgery twice. Once at 15, end again at 17. They removed it and it came back. My daughter is 3 and it looks like I've handed it down. It's a thyroglossal duct cyst. It's not that rare of a cyst but it being familial is very rare.

A cyst? Any half arse surgeon can handle that

Not listed as pediatric exclusively but Dr Jonathan Welden is a great Endocrinologist.

Yea, but when it's your 3 year old and it's in the center of her neck you're a little cautious.

Same here. Her surgery was 9 years ago (when she was 1) but my OB said she's the pediatric surgeon he would choose for his own children.

My response will get downvotes, but the better surgeons are GENERALLY in larger metroplexes

Faith Hansborough absolutely

Another vote for Faith Hansbrough. She has worked on 2 of my kids and I would not hesitate to use her again.

I had a mass removed from my neck when I was 9, but it was on my right side, not right in the center. Don't remember what they called it, but not that. Looked like a golf ball sticking out of my neck, and when it was removed they said it was the size of a pear.

Not always true. Your better surgeons dealing with cysts or tumors, especially Peds, are GENERALLY going to be found in academic institutions with attached children's hospitals. They deal with these on a weekly basis as compared to private practice surgeons who see them on a monthly or quarterly basis.

Lopoo. He did great with my child.

Hansbrough or Lopoo are both excellent pediatric surgeons. I trained with them and would let either of them operate on my child over any other pediatric surgeon in the state. Upp is a good surgeon as well, but I prefer his partners. They all work together.
