What outside temp do you cover your faucets?

All of mine are built into the house (no visible pipe). How cold would it have to be for you to worry about insulating them in a new house with great insulation?

I mean covers are like $5.. Why not be a little proactive in this case?

Inside?
I'm thinking let the water drip and open all cabinets to let heat into cabinets.
If all inside, I think you'd need single digits to even worry?

-20? I don't know.
We hit -9 actual temp out here last weekend, and I didn't do it. It's been there and colder multiple times, and I haven't done that.
A cocker spaniel peeing on the living room rug because she won't go outside is a different issue.

Sub 25 for more than 6 hours for me. I think that is on the cautious side too

Gotta be below freezing for a long period of time.

I may wrap it in a towel if it gets to 25. I usually just leave a trickle going at the faucet that's nearest the supply line.

Below 30 Just to be on the safe side

Has anyone here had a faucet freeze and bust?
If so, about how cold was it that night?

Depends a lot if youve got an older house with pipes in attic or underneath on pier and beam
or a newer house, with pipes in slab

Ah, right.. You're under the assumption all homes are created equal. If you don't reside in a hard freeze area, it's probably a good idea if temps get abnormally low for the area. But hey, they aren't my faucets.

My criteria for freeze protection is based on time below freezing not the low temperature.

Never. It routinely gets into single digits or well below zero out here for days on end whenever we experience a polar vortex.
I blow out my sprinkler system in October so that it doesn't get damaged during the winter because I can't forecast everything, but the rest of this is new to me.
I didn't know people still did this shite. My grandma talked about doing this, but I have never done it.
