I heard that Saban was making Canada coach in waiting and that Saban told him that he would be made HC at Alabama when Saban retired in two years.
Just passing along what my sauce inside the Alabama athletic dept said. This has been discussed all year, just not publicly, as Saban does not trust the media for obvious reasons. But a transition is being quietly planned and Saban thought he had his guy in Canada. Sauce said that Canada had concern with Saban's heavy handed control and was keen to have free reign over his own offense like he had with Pitt. Canada had already worked under heavy handed HCs in Bielema and Doeren and had no interest in going back to such a working relationship. Canada is his own man. Plus he thinks he can be a HC somewhere after 2-3 good years as OC at LSU.

I wouldn't be shocked if Bama called just to gauge interest. I doubt he was offered the job.

he may very well have had him on the short list, but that doesn't mean that he'd even gotten to the point of reaching out to him yet...and it certainly doesn't mean he offered him the job. That's pure speculation that has only been seen on this board by LSU fans.

If it matters that much to know, why doesn't someone tweet or email Feldman and ask him which schools Canada turned down that offered him a job in the last 48 hours.
