I keep reading on here that this recruit and that recruit won't come, because they want this coach or that coach. This is sheer lunacy. A player should want to come to LSU, because they want to play for LSU. It sickens me to see things such as a player getting his brother at the school, or kids saying they are going elsewhere because they want to determine who their position coach is. I just bet players do not tell this to Saban, and Orgeron should not give in to this type of arrogance.

Things like this aren't flat out said, they get implied.

No kid is going to say "I'm not going to your school unless you hire so-and-so."

They just don't talk to you and instead talk to the school that *did* hire so-and-so.

Also, I think this happens, but rarely. Most shining example and I guess the one you're thinking being Shea Patterson.

It doesn't work like that anymore it's a new game now days. But I can't blame a kid for making a calculated decision on the school choice that they feel will maximize their skill set and possible future earnings

LSU is where they should want to play. It should be, "young man do you want to play for LSU?" The answer should be a simple yes or no, not "here is what you have to do to get me to play at LSU." No recruit should be able to dictate terms; I do not care who he is.

Lol sorry but any kid would be crazy not to look at every aspect of a school instead of going somewhere because of a schools name lol

kids use schools as a stepping stone for their future, if you don't believe people should do what they feel is best for them then it really explains a lot about where you must be in life.

Welcome to the millennials. They want what they won't and pout and cry if they don't get it.

Kids want to go where they have the best chance to develop and improve their stock for the NFL

.
This is greatly dependent upon the coach and the scheme and how they fit into the plan.
.
It's not about the school pride thing anymore. It's about how to get to the NFL.

The issue isn't that they are all demanding one coach or another. It is that, unlike Saban right now, or even Miles when he had OC vacancies, O doesn't have a track record to fall back on since Ole Miss. An established coach can say tell a recruit, "We are going to get the right guy, and run X system next year. You'll be a perfect fit," and the recruit will usually be comfortable with that. It's going to take a few successful seasons before O gets that benefit of the doubt. This isn't a knock on him, either. It's the situation combined with human nature.

Evidently, there are also questions as to whether Juluke and Craig have job security past the bowl game. This is a HUGE deal, as they are the remaining offensive recruiters who got these guys committed. Recruiting is about relationships, and the relationships on offense are with THEM. I honestly wouldn't blame a guy for being wary if his position coach may no longer be here. Anyone who follows recruiting knows that this is the deal.

If kids truly used the process as a stepping stone, you would see more kids going to Stanford, Duke, Cal, Vanderbilt, Cal, Northwestern. These are some of the top Non-Ivy league schools. Let's face it, most of these kids won't get a shot to go pro. Even a lot of the 4-5*s. I would think that most of them don't take into account their true future at all.

Dylan Moses has the skill set and ability. He chose bama for the pros. Hell they might put 10-12 in the league this year.

Lindsey Scott chose LSU over Harvard. The deck is stacked against him going pro. He could go pro. Odds are he doesn't. He chose with his heart, not his head.

There are a lot of reasons kids choose their schools. Let's not pretend we know why lol.

Less than 1% of college athletes make it to the n.f.l.

While they think it's a stepping stone, only a select few will make it. So no, you don't let a kid dictate to you. the kid needs lsu more than lsu needs the kid. if he doesn't like it, recruit another kid in his place. I like the hootie jones vs jamal adams comparison.

because they are recruits and tend to get what they want.

then they sign and face a harsh reality.

Thank god you arent a recruiter for LSU. This isnt the old days. CFB is now a business, if you want the best and brightest, you have to make your job attractive to them. If you are the best company in the nation (Bama) you dont have to do much selling, your success sells itself.

Orgeron ain't Saban. And I'd be willing to bet Saban and Alabama do plenty to sway recruits beyond just saying, "Hey, it's Alabama."

It isn't lunacy for kids to want to know who their coach is going to be, or at least have an idea of the possibilities. Top recruits have options, and they use that as leverage. It's on the coaching staff to decide whether or not to capitulate.

I don't think that if a kid and his family don't jump on an LSU offer that doesn't mean they are dictating anything. I have a bunch of knowledge in this area I played football in college and so did both of my brothers. I also had a relative that played for LSU that is currently playing in the nfl. I also know a kid that choose LSU late after he had been committed to Texas A&M for months that didn't see the field at LSU. So with saying that I truly believe a recruit should do what he fells is best for him not choose a school because of pride or because it's your State school. What if Dak Prescot had came here do you honestly think he would be where he is today.

So how do you explain Hugh Freze's enormous success at Ole Miss in his first 2-3 yeas landing Nkemdeche, Treadwell and Tunsil? His only claim to fame was one year at Arkansas State and acting as pimp for the Tuohys with Michael Oher?

Why did Nkemdeche go to Ole Miss rather than Georgia that had Mark Richt at the time?

Why did Tunsil elect to hang out at the Grove when he was from suburban Chicago and could have gone to any of the Big 10 schools as well as offers from USC?

What was the motivation for Tunsil coming from Lake City, FL instead of going to Bama or Florida or FSU....is proximity to Memphis really a cool thing?

I agree that every recruit should do what is best for him, but you do not use social media to say "if that coach isn't there, then I will not go there." Just do what you have to do with your mouth shut.
