There have been quite a few 4/5 star recruits leave Florida for the same reasons that some kids just want to leave their homes to get away.
Do you think Coaches Would have wished Kwan Alexander would have stayed in Alabama or Patrick Petersen in Florida?
Florida teams had great recruiters before those coaches you mentioned, but there is more pressure on the in state coaches battling amongst themselves and will only increase now with Kiffin and Charlie Strong and LSU will continue to recruit the best players they can no matter who they are up against.

Also, do not discount the growing fact that KIDS today don't want to leave their home areas in droves. They love to play as locally as they can, particularly lower income top flight Florida athletes.

Not true. Kids leave their home state all the time and that hasn't changed. As another poster pointed out for every Louisiana kid LSU doesn't get we pick up a great athlete from out of state. Your whole post is off base. We will continue to recruit Florida and Kiffen and Strong will have little, if any, impact on that. Think about it a moment - how many players from FAU are in the NFL compared to LSU? NFLSU baby!! And that's not even mentioning the chance to compete for an SEC and National title. Let's hope Coach O and Company can convert that talent into another National title.

Those same schools were there back then. We are still competing against those 3 the other schools still suck and Lane fricking Kiffin isn't going to change that. What has he ever done to make you think he's a great head coach or recruiter?

Most of the 5* players we get from Florida come to be a part of DBU.

I'm talking about in the future. Hopefully we still have a hold on Akers but I can't imagine recruits would be excited to come play for Coach O until we get at least 1 successful season under him.

Yes...there will ALWAYS be some kids who want to get the hell away from where they grew up and go AWAY to college...always has been, always will be.

That's basic human nature and has nothing to do with football coaches.

Look at the coaches in the state of Florida now:

Jimbo
McElwain
Strong
Richt
Davis
Kiffin
Frost

Will it even be worth the expense to go talk to those kids?

*Not being negative at all. Simply food for thought & discussion*

Do you honestly think a 5* is going to FAU because of Kiffin? Dude will be there 3 years tops and probably more like 1-2.
