The Santa Clause movies (trilogy) are the most underrated Christmas movies

Gonna be honest...I've always liked Tim Allen.
But, specifically, I think he's excellent as Santa Claus. He's a really good Santa Claus.
And these movies, a lot like Christmas Vacation, are extremely rewatchable. They're funny, heartwarming, whimsical, and at times magical - everything you'd hope for in a good Christmas movie.
Plus, the Santa Clause 2 and 3 are, imo, equally great because they actually take place entirely in the North Pole after Tim Allen has embraced the job of being Santa Claus.
There aren't many movies beside the Polar Express and a handful of others which take place entirely in the North Pole. For small children, it is the North Pole that is the most fascinating! It's the center of Christmas magic. Kids want to see Santa's workshop. They want to see Santa and Mrs. Claus sitting in their German style cottage next to a crackling fire drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows. They want to see Santa's elves, reindeer, and sleigh.
I love the Santa Clause trilogy.

I just wanted someone to shoot his ex-wife and Neal.

Neal.
Gonna be honest...Neal's character actually adds real comedic value to the movie. Tim Allen and Judge Reinhold's chemistry (or lack thereof) is great.
But, yeah, Neal (the character) is such a goofy bitch.

SC. Scott Calvin.
Jude Law plays an awesome try hard step dad in that movie.
I also love that Santa Clause is like the Highlander in that movie universe.

I like how you summed up your post with this:

The last one with Martin Short, I didn't enjoy that much

Even for you this is absurd

Dude, the Santa Clause 2 and 3 are solid Christmas movies. I'd say number 3 is better than 2.
My ranking is:
1) Santa Clause
1a) SC 3 (Jack Frost)
2) SC 2 (Evil Santa)

Sounds like many a focus group was conducted to come to these conclusions.

But Santa Clause 2 and 3 don't take place entirely in the North Pole...

I love the first one and it is one of my favorite Christmas movies, but the sequels are terrible.

I like these movies too. The first one is great and should be considered a Christmas classic. The second one was good too, but I never saw the third one.

The third is better than the second (but I like them all). The third has Martin Short who plays an evil Jack Frost who wants to take over the North Pole and commercialize Santa Land as an amusement park.
Sounds hokey, but that's the fun! Plus, Martin Short is great like usual.
It's very fun, very Christmasy...it's very solid.
Watch it.

the sequels were not horrible but i felt the look of the north pole was cheapened in the sequels.

If all of the adults don't believe in Santa Claus how do they explain all the presents just magically showing up? This movie is probably one of the more extreme examples of this. Kind of a funny thing to think about.
