Argument Tip: "Radical Islamic Terrorist" v. "White Supremacist" or "Alt-Right"

so while pondering over morning coffee and CNN/FB this morning, something hit me. this local media personality who is histrionic about the election and the boogeymen being created commented about Time giving Trump its person of the year award with this:
then CNN rolled a clip discussing Obama's comments about the war on terror yesterday and they did the progressive rhetoric tactic of ensuring that they mention that radicals are only a small % of the total muslim population...and it kind of hit me...progs are literally using the same arguments about "white supremacists" or the "AltRight" that they criticize when a discussion about Islamic terrorism arises. just think about it
-small, vocal minority group within a group? check
-does that group hold extremist views outside of normal society? yes
-is that group responsible for extremist behavior that the normal society would never engage in? yes
-are people using a broad brush for the entire group when focusing on the minority group? yes
-does using these labels by the general group strengthe the group identification and the resolve of the minority group? yes
now, obviously radical jihadists actually do kill people and the effects of the minority groups are very different, BUT, in terms of rhetoric, it's the exact same argument. so when you feel free to discuss this with your progressive friends, feel free to use this argument

Above is the explanation from TIME magazine for their choice. In my opinion, they really went wayyyyy too easy on both Trump and his most fervent supporters when writing this explanation.

That's not a detail you can just speed past.

You are of course correct. One of many ongoing examples of the celebrated double-standard employed by the liberal progressive media in controlling the narrative.

hence why the thread title starts with "argument tip"
this is about rhetoric. not a direct comparison of the 2 groups
hell, the Alt-Right and Jihadists are political enemies of the highest order

thank you for taking the time to actually read the OP

More locally, look at their treatment of the BLMers.

I don't think progressives love ISIS though. There issue is not that they can't distinguish between radical-Islam and moderate-Islam it's that they refuse to do so.
If you say there is no difference then the leftist would assume that all Islam is moderate and the far righties would assume all Islam is radical.
We know this is not true.
The same can be said with "white supremacist" except for the fact that white supremacist are not killing people to the level that ISIS is in 2016.
The "alt-right" can be totally taken out of this comparison. The alt-right is simply a collection of weaponized autistic people fighting the great meme war of 2016 on the internet.

Libs are hypocrites. This is known.
The entire racial argument has many similar inconsistencies.

very few leftists believe that and only a small minority of righties believe that
the vast majority of everyone understands there are secular muslims, moderate muslims, islamists, and jihadists. the prog narrative is that they don't even like using the term "Radical islam" so that (a) they don't group all muslims together as radical and (b) to not embolden the radicals by legitimizing them
this EXACT argument applies to the "white supremacists" and "alt-right", but the progs are pushing THAT narrative. they are both grouping all of their opponents as the most radical opponents AND emboldening the extremists at the pole by validating them as a bigger portion of the main group than they are
i mean frick, they're even doing the "if you don't publicly criticize and isolate yourself from the radicals, you're enabling the radicals" argument. that is literally the exact argument they criticize with the muslim angle

P.S. As usual, this isn't about left vs. right, it's about the establishment creating these ridiculous memes for us to fight amongst ourselves over (divide and conquer).
Why do you continue to fall for these traps?

it's pointing out logical inconsistency
how else do you try to show flaws in your opponents' arguments?

That's pretty much all the left cares about concerning your argument. Don't waste their time by pointing out the double standard you evil racist you.
