He told me that Orgeron was the right hire, but for the wrong reasons. He told me Alleva, while bad, is further hampered by meddlesome boosters and Board of Supervisors aholes.

He told me Orgeron has already said Ensminger will not be the permanent OC. He told me it will be a hire made outside of the program, which some will like, some won't.

Common sense hasn't been associated with LSU football in over a decade. Terrible source, that guy isn't even allowed on campus.

LSU administration is a joke at this point. 1 good hire I can recall and he is becoming the GOAT at the rival. Raise your hand if you think Ed Orgeron can compete with this GOAT......

Elaborate on this.

If you fire a coach with a 70% winning percentage to hire a guy with a 40% winning percentage and you think common sense approves of this decision, you need to re-evaluate your level of common sense.

I don't know what Alleva's "search" consisted of, but it appears at least that he wasted the supposed 2 month " head start" he supposedly got by firing Miles in Sept. He should have cast a wide net and assess interest.

I can see the benefits of keeping O. One is recruiting - yeah there are some bumps but LSU will ultimately sign a top 5-8 class. Two, he did in fact turn the team around in a short period of time. Three, upon reflection, I think Jimbo should've been the serious play -- not Herman -- and it appears Alleva has no stomach for, or skill in, negotiation.

Orgeron has a chance to be successful, he knows it, and there is no way in hell he elevates Ensminger to permanent OC.

My common sense had told me there was no way LSU would hire a position coach looking for a job just two years ago with a miserable record the only time he had full control of a program as the head coach at LSU.

My common sense failed to understand just how many we have around LSU who have the common sense of a fricking retard.

Dont need to go that far down the list (Ensminger). If the rumors about pending NCAA sanctions and everyone, from the HC to the Chancellor, lawyering up at Ole Miss, then we could quickly hire their OC/QB coach, Dan Werner, without missing a beat on the recruiting trail. Werner would be a solid, if not spectacular, hire and would field a strong, aggressive spread attack.

Why wait for sanctions? He's done wonders at Ole miss. Give him 25% more and see if he bites

I dont know, but I think Orgeron has a number of "his" people in mind, to whom he will first offer the job. That said, he should not wait more than 7-10 days. I have to believe that Werner would listen.

Well, he was on coach O's staff at Ole Miss back in 2006-2007. Maybe he's on the list?
