I graduated high school in a Dallas suburb, and was the only person in my class to go to LSU...I had several people ask me something along the lines of "isn't that a black college?"

Definitely true. I know that was the case for each of us, and there was a high percentage of late 20's/early 30's that I took classes with. Common theme was NOLA guys that:
1) Went to LSU out of HS
2) fricked around
3) dropped out with shite grades
4) worked for a while
5) got tired of a shite job and went to UNO, staying close to home

What would make people think a top tier SEC school was a black school? Like they had never heard of the school before.
Honestly I think you're lying.

I went to McNeese. It's a commuter college really. Cheapest Tuition in the state. Just a smaller version of your bigger schools. Above average football for its size and conference over the last decade. Substantial amount of tail. A lot of nurses and engineers

I've enjoyed my time at SLU. I've always been an LSU fan but didn't want to go to a big school. One thing I've learned is college is what you make it. If you're miserable no matter where you are, chances are it's your own fault

Probably due to the prominence of our athletics...all they saw was black athletes.
Also probably a stereotype of Louisiana in general, I don't know.
Plus they were idiots

Tulane's full of kids from all over the country. Rich WASPy kids from New England. Rich Jewy kids from New York. Rich liberal kids from California. Kids with bad accents from Chicago/Midwest. Black athletes and smart kids with legislative scholarships from Louisiana.

Throw in the fake black-rimmed glasses everyone started wearing and you have perfectly described Lafayette.

You can't stereotype college students because thry are from everywhere and all walks of life.

lsu kids thinking they are smarter than all of the other kids that didnt go to lsu in-state. Only to Pay more and find out later that a degree from lsu is no better than the lesser universities . Lsu degree from a national perspective no different than la tech,ulm..etc..Tulane is the only school that actually has some creed due to what has been mentioned.

Nicholls stereotype is probably that most students sound like these 2 guys when, in fact, only SOME of the students sound like them.

LSU Freshman admission
quote:
Freshman Automatic Admission Requirements GPA: 3.0 academic GPA based on Required High School Courses Test Score Requirement (ACT, New SAT, or Old SAT): ACT: 22 composite score, with at least 19 math subscore 18 English subscore
UL Lafayette admissions
quote:
In-State Freshman Guaranteed Admission Criteria If you are an in-state student applying for freshman admission, you must meet ONE of the following requirements for admission: Have a core grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale OR 2. Have an ACT composite score of 23, 1050 SAT Critical Reading+Math (CR+M)[earned prior to March 2016], or 1130 SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing+Math (ERW+M) [beginning March 2016]
Higher ACT requirements at ULL though lower GPA requirement, so kind of a wash.
When I started at LSU(1980) all state funded schools were required to accept any in state applicant. That is one of the reasons the schools in this state are so far behind, they have a sort of hole to dig out of. When the laws changed, you saw a lot of resources previously dedicated to remediation available for other things. I did finish at USL, a purely economic decision based on certain life choices I made. LSU will always be my first love. My son will be starting there this fall.
