When I was in college, I would stop by my uncle's gas station once or twice a week. It was common for people to get $3-$4 in gas and pay for it in change, but one day this guy walks in with a jar filled with coins. It was about the size of a mason jar, but he puts it on the counter and says "I want whatever amount is in here worth of gas" then walked out and went back to his car. After a while the guy came back in and was like "can yall turn on the pump?". They use to change oil and tires and my uncle made the schedule around him, his two sons who were in college and two part-time workers so that there were always at least three people working.
They usually kept pretty busy and even when it wasn't that busy it wasn't like they had time to sit there and count out a jar full of change. They told the dude they couldn't count all of the money because they were busy so he would have to go get them wrapped or better organize the coins.. Dude was pissed and was all like "well I will go somewhere else, anywhere else will take them so yall will never get my business again". He came back about two hours later, I wasn't there, but evidently he brought the jar back in, sat down and counted until he had about $13. Thats probably the most I ever seen..

In line at liquor store behind skinny black dude and his hefty girlfriend. He bought a 12 pack of something cheap and a pack of Newports. For payment, he piled on the counter some crumpled singles and a couple pockets full of assorted change,
The clerk carefully counted until he reached the amount owed, then shoved back the rest of the coins.
My man sees he has money left, so turns to his lady and asks, What's that gum you be liking, Juicy Fruit? Yeah, she says.
He tells the clerk, in a big spender voice, Gimme bout four or five pack of that Juicy Fruit gum.
She smiled like he had bought her a diamond ring.

His girl sounds like a good man.. When he has money, she is next priority after the liquor and cigarettes.

i lost a bet to a dude who worked for an armored car company. He got so cocky and dicky, that i talked to one of his co worker buddies and got the $100 in loose pennies.
I dumped it out in his living room floor, told him to keep the change, i threw in an extra penny to be a dick.

I am sure it was fun counting 10,001 pennies.

Kramer paid for calzones with pennies, or at least tried to.
Also settled up with Todd Gack for those Peruvian cigars.

I had a buddy pay a $100 traffic ticket in pennies. They had to accept it because it's legal tender. ;)

I was about 18 and my dad had a bunch of mason jars he put change in, (one jar for each type of coin and then start a new jar when one got full).
So one weekend me and my friend got it all counted it wrapped it in rolls and came up with well over $700. We wanted to go buy a new big waterbed for us (she slept over a lot).
It was the weekend so we could not go to the bank so we went to the waterbed store, picked out a big bed and bought it. The salesguy laughed and was happy to take it because he got commission and it had been a slow week for him.
When my dad got home he notice all the change was gone so we told him what we did and he laughed so much at what we did.

Enjoyed the story.
But that line, for some reason, made me laugh. It's like it was written by someone who speaks English as a second language.

In college saw a guy buy a 12 pack with change he just had in his pocket. It was not like he tried to scrape together all the change he could find and then go buy beer. This dude was just legit walking around with enough change to buy a 12 pack.

I am downvoting all the people that say they have or have friends who have paid for violations with change.
No you didn't.

I paid $62 and something in loose pennies in Stillwater,OK for about 4 downtown parking tickets. That shite was HEAVY!!!
They had a "metermaid" that was real hardassed biotch about her job before they eventually installed actual meters. The little loan office I worked in there had no parking for anyone, including employees, except out front on the street. That biotch would come around every 3.25 hours on the dot with her yellow chalk on a stick marking tires for the 3 hour time limit. Ever tried moving your car/truck every 3 hours in a freezing, windy, wet, middle of the flat plains Oklahoma, late January/early February winter storm?
The business next us was a music store (instruments not hard copy CD/DVD/albums) and the other side was vacant. Not like there a big push or demand for the spaces.
Biotch came in the next day and tried to tell me not to pay tickets like that. I told her to get out of the office and as long as she wrote me tickets, I'd pay them like that every damned time! (I had a few individual tickets before and after I could stuff with pennies and nickels and fit into the dropbox.) The next summer is when they installed meters.
I can fully understand the OK State and Highway Patrol offices signage informing "No forms of cash accepted, only money orders and certified checks" which is legal (call the Comptroller of Currency or US Treasury to confirm if you doubt).
