We are the only team in the modern era to play for a NC with two losses. We jumped like 7 spots in order to play in that game. We haven't lost respect, we just haven't been very good.

My guess is LSU would have been ranked pretty damn high if they would've beaten Florida. We just don't have a quality win. Florida wouldn't have been a super-quality win, but it would have been better than what we have. Our best win is against a&m.

You do realize we are the laughing stock of college football right now? When Desmond Howard is the only person on ESPN gameday that agree with hire, you're not in a good place.

Respect is earned. What have we done over the last 5 years to earn respect? We held on to a hard headed coach who managed to average 78th in offense. We went into this season loaded with talent and our pre season ranking fairly reflected this. Then our hard headed, over paid, lying head coach pissed away another season w his 1960 offense.

Lost four games. It was a long shot that we'd earn a Sugar Bowl spot.

The answer is no.

I suspect that there a quite a few teams with better records than we have which are below up or not ranked at all. I think that means that we get a modicum of respect.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse here but it doesn't seem that LSU is respected on a national level.

LSU is respected on sheer talent alone. LSU can field one of the top 5 most talented teams in the country. They've had coaching and quarterback/passing problems in the past that, I feel, makes others skeptical.

In the past 5 seasons, take a look at LSU's out of conference results (Excluding directional, rent a win schools):

quote:

2016
Wisconsin - 16 LSU - 14 LOSS

2015
LSU - 34 Syracuse - 24 WIN
LSU - 56 Texas Tech - 27 WIN

2014
LSU - 28 Wisconsin - 24 WIN
Notre Dame - 31 LSU - 28 LOSS

2013
LSU - 37 TCU - 27 WIN
LSU - 21 Iowa - 14 WIN

2012
LSU - 41 Washington - 3 WIN
Clemson - 25 LSU - 24 LOSS

LSU is 6-3. Lots of close games in there that could have gone either way. It's just different teams than the teams in the 2003-2011 era.

the charge of the top secret playoff committee is to set up games at the end of the year to make the nation happy...has nothing to do with correctly ranking teams based on how good they are.

Until we get a head coach that is respected and feared, LSU will always get the shaft in the polls and with the refs.

We've never gotten the respect an Ohio State or Alabama would get even if we had the same record against similar competition

When was the last time either of these programs won 9, 8 and 7 games in consecutive years?
