We clearly need a pass rusher and with having actual money to spend this upcoming FA period, do we make the play for JPP given out LB's have stepped up and still have draft picks to select more Defensive Talent with?

Re-sign Nick Fairley as well and you have a line of Jordan, Fairley, Ranks, JPP.

Sounds pretty damn good to me!

Would still have money left over for another CB , G, and OLB.

Top QB's CB's and pass rushers are costly in FA.
I would prefer mid level FA's and go after pass rushers/LB early and often in the draft. Really really often

Definitely make a run at JPP and Malcolm Smith in free agency

I'd rather go after the top G in FA, draft a good T to eventually replace Strief, only b/c he getting up there in age. In first 3 rounds I'd like a T, DE, and LB. Not necessarily in that order

If we signed JPP and resigned Fairley...I would need new pants.

Maybe the Saints can sign him on a 5 finger discount.

Not sure I'd want to sign JPP. And we may need to look at getting a DT in free agency. Fairley may have played himself into a big contract. I like what we have with Jordan, Rankins and Kruger. I wish we could pick up a Tim Williams with a second round pick.

I would not shell out big money to free agents ever again unless it was someone along the lines of Von Miller, JJ Watt or guys of that nature. Jason Pierre Paul just screams to me one of those guys who would get paid and just do squat down here.

Just to be wise with the cap under the new CBA, our best bet is to use cap space on positions that are cheaper and then rely on draft picks (I know, sigh) for more expensive positions like DE.

For example, the Bears signed Josh Sitton for 3 years/21M. That is a pro-bowl/potentially all-pro potential guard for 7M a year. A bargain. You will not come close to sniffing an all-pro pass rusher for that cost.

Fortunately we seem to have actually managed to accumulate some talent and it doesn't seem like we're going to be super desperate for anything in the offseason other than just upgrades in general + depth.
