**** SPOILERS for up to chapter 10 ****
That part made me so sad. You feel so much guilt and the dialogue just makes it worse. Did you bring him into the mine? If you do, Prompto only takes pictures of him. Far away from behind. It's really sad.

Just beat it.
Oh what a swing and a beautifully hit ball to the warning track.
All I saw was potential that never quite made it over the wall. This wasn't the game it was supposed to be, but made the best out of what it had. It needed more time. I would have waited another couple of years in order to see what could and should have been.
There was so much more potential story wise. My god they had what could have been the best story in the palm of their hands and they let it slip away for whatever reason. While it made sense it was incredibly rushed.
I enjoyed the open world of the game but I would sacrifice it all for the linearity of 13 and a true more detailed storyline, as I believe in its potential that much.
Spoilers:
-The relationship between a father knowing his son is the " Chosen " king and will die(both of them) for the cause should have been built upon more. While the movie showed some insight on Regis it failed to build a most important relationship. Noctis should have witnessed his father death and his sacrifice as he fled the city under protection from his bros.
-Luna. They should have either done away with her all together or have built upon that relationship as well. For fricks sake....if you want to have a love interest then my god show the love. I understand it is a bros tale and they are your party memebers and there is no real way to build that relationship via constant interaction....just scratch her all together or give her Cindy's screen time.
-Ardyn by far got screwed. I'm getting rustled at all the potential he had. I enjoyed every moment of his and deserved so much more development. What a waste of a great character. You mean your nemesis...an immortal that was supposed to be the chosen one...the one you are replacing....the puppet master of everything that has gone wrong...and the one with the most swagger....oh and a Lucis...gets 20mins of screen time? Would have loved a chapter in between those 10 years without Noctis just to see some of the events with him at the helm.
-Prompto.....that reveal was so weak it should have never been put in the fricking game. You fricking kidding me. Laughable. That is something we should have known early in the game and something we should have been looking forward to him revealing. Kinda of like riku being an al bed and you know wakka ain't about that shite but it would have been much more meaningful. They may touch on it more with the DLC but meh at this point.
-What an anti climatic ending. Could have been way more feels that what we got. The reunion was weak and everything after was weak. The bond felt non existent after ignis told them to get their shite together. Probably because everything was so rushed after that.
End spoilers:
With that said. I still enjoyed the game. I saw a vision that just never fully became a reality for XV. It still felt incomplete. I feel like they ran out of time and they tried to plug some gaps with a movie and anime. The flow of everything just didn't feel right.

Now that I've beaten it as well, I'll weigh in a bit.
OBVIOUSLY HUGE MEGA SPOILERS
1. Ardyn is the best villain in the series. He tries to everything Kefka wanted, but Ardyn actually succeeded. To imbue the souls of soldiers into MTs and purposefully starting an epidemic to turn all of the Imperial citizens into daemons. Being exiled by his own father for saving people from daemons to being exiled and having a soul so tainted that he wasn't accepted into the afterlife. Driving through the World of Ruin was truly unsettling. I'm sad we had to wait so long for him to really star.
2. The post-credits scene at the campfire, what is your consensus. Is that scene in the afterlife, or did it take place before the assault on Insomnia? There's good evidence for both, but I found the scene more impactful when I first saw and assumed they were all dead.

oauron, im currently finishing all sphere grids in FFX to get the platinum (should be done shortly)
this is the video that got me interested in FFXV years ago LINK
Is there anything like that ^ in the game? seems like another empty open world game where you just drive in a car and fight mobs. i enjoyed the demo and found a certain charm in it, but i havent seen anything similar in other gameplay videos
XV is next in my queue and i want to know if im due for a letdown That trailer made it looks so awesome and epic

Spoilers...
I get so mad about Ardyn. I think he was the best as well and that is a shame considersing how under utialized his character was.
The post camp to me was before they left. Their last camp. Didn't get any afterlife vibe from it.

Beat the game a couple of days ago, while I understand the complaints about the story, I don't think they're warranted to the extent some people are complaining. One of the better stories/games I've played in a while. Going to play the shite out of the side stuff. Definitely a huge step in the right direction for the franchise. If Square makes good on their promise to patch in additional story scenes for free, this could be one of the best games in a while. Absolutely loved the story. Definitely tugged some heart strings multiple times.

The post-credits scene at the campfire

quote:Apparently most of the scenes that were scratched and are rumored to be being patched in were scenes that included her. I think once all of the patches/story additions are complete, we'll have a much better and more complete story than we do now. Even as is, Luna's involvement still hit me pretty hard, simply because of the directing and the god-tier direction of "the scene".

On another note, how many of you watched Brotherhood and Kingsglaive before playing the game? I didn't know about them until afterward and have watched both. They're definitely nice additions to the story. Kingsglaive is really good. The backstory of Brotherhood was nice, too. Prompto's episode in particular has a little extra punch if you watch it after you've played the game.

I watched Kingslaive before playing and personlly would suggest it to anyone before playing the game. I did not watch Brotherhood though.
SPOILERS
I don't really see how the campfire scene could be in the afterlife. The only afterlife shot I believe was there was the one of Noctis and Luna getting married. Wouldn't really make sense to show them getting married and then him at a random campfire again.
The campfire scene was one of the strongest scenes I've seen in a game in a good while. Was hard to hold back the tears.

You know, even though this game was a massive disappointment for me, I'm glad I played it because it made me want to go back and play real FF games again. Finished 7 and I'm about to finish 8. Debating between 6 and 9 next. I am leaning 9. I love 6 but the PC version (the only I can easily access) is just a port of the iOS version and it is awful. The PC 7,8,9 ports have a "super speed" option that just makes the game much better. Some of the mundane tasks (just like running through areas and random events) are much better at super speed. The PC 6 does not have the super speed.. it only has a sped up battle option which is not very good.

Watched both and they were good backstories to have for the game.
**SPOILERS of course**
Is the hate for Ardyn just that we didn't get more of him? He was so well done, pulled all the strings, and got every single thing he wanted.
Campfire scene imo was definitely pre-final battle. Noctis pretty much says "I've made peace that I'm going to die but having this camping moment is making it even harder". Hard hitting. I actually expected it when camping leading up to the boss fights instead of post-credits, so it took me off guard too.
I do hope they add in all the other story things. Most of the holes in the plot I believe come from everything being from Noctis' perspective. Any cutscenes we see of other characters come when Noctis is being told about them, with the exception of Luna and the soldiers in her room I think. Makes sense from a directing stand point, but leaves some things up to our imagination that could be fleshed out.
Working on the post-game stuff now. Got the plat trophy, but still have to delve into the locked doors. Accidentally started the 100 floor one thinking it was one of the short ones, god that was long.

Of course. Wouldn't you have liked more of him?

Of course, but I don't know if more would have been better. Depends on the execution of course, but the veil of mystery added to him.

OBVIOUSLY A TON MORE SPOILERS
The campfire was before the marriage scene iirc. It makes sense to me because of some small details (like his ring missing etc), and the overall somberness of Noctis. Knowing that his friends cared so much for him to go and die with him to save the world.
I thought they would make more sense knowing that his friends died with him to save the world. That they truly sacrificed all for him and the world.

SPOILERS
Kefka did succeed, he ruled the World of Ruin as a god on top of his tower.
He's one of my favorite FF villians and so is Ardyn. In fact the final part of the game is a direct reference to the last part of FFVI.
