Texas has pulled an Alleva

Strong was fired, but Herman is not biting how they expected. They are back tracking now. It's all on hold, not to mention their players are considering boycotting the TCU game.
This about to get ugly and funny. Strong will coach the TCU game they will win, the players will carry him off the field and Strong will be the coach at TEXAS next year.

I don't know how it'll play out this weekend but UT is definitely looking like LSU did last year the week before the A&M game. Hopefully they frick it up and leave the door open for Herman to at least look at LSU.

Best alternative to this is the AD says that, charlie comes up to the podium and is like "actually...nah i'm out see ya" and takes another job.

You mean a Stanley Jacobs/F King Alexander/John Bell Edwards. Alleva did not want what happened in Nov happen for the upteenth time. His hand was forced.

Not Edwards. Jindal.

If you want to be politically correct, yes lol. That

but before he leaves he says "Tom Herman, trust me, you don't want to come here" *mic drop*

It was Jindal. He even sent a fricking letter saying it wouldn't look good to fire him.

I'm not sure. Why would a lame duck Gov'r be given much consideration. OTOH, JBE was the Gov'r-Elect and on the same "we must save education!!" tax-a-thon platform as F'King Alexander. I'd see it more likely it was JBE weighing in.

The texas boards would melt like fukishima if he did that.

?
Jindal was the governor who forced Alleva's hand. Remember, he thought we would be president now and didn't want the black eye of paying so much for a coach when LSU just got hit with cuts.
Touché

I think Texas is making a mistake by firing him 3 years into his stint there. You are not showing the coaching world that you have your coach's back.
There should no doubt have been some terse discussions with Strong and what he needed to do to keep his job after next year, but 3 years isn't enough time. Texas is confirming to the nation what most already thought: their program is a dumpster fire and it's because their boosters are allowed to run wild and have too much say.

He could pull a Franchione and resign after a home win the day after Thanksgiving.

Because he & Les are besties and Jindal appointees were all over LSU.

I'm pretty sure Strong is gone no matter what. It's not at all like Miles last season. Miles was a winning coach. Strong just lost to Kansas.
I can see the players carrying him off the field and Perrin? still firing him immediately after.

I would hope that after firing our coach at the beginning of the season that we already have a done deal with whoever the next coach is. I would expect Texas to be working on that right now as well. That's what a real AD does.

Because Jindal was the one who slashed the frick out of LSU's budget in the last 8 years.
