High school basketball talent in Louisiana seems to be way down.....

With basketball here figured I'd start a lil convo about basketball talent in our state at the high school level. Not much to get excited about. The kid from LCA that has signed with LSU hasn't shown me much and the kid from Natch. Central has me feeling the same.
Last year was much of the same. The Simms kid from Unviersity that is now a freshman at LSU is a work in progress. The twins that were at LCA last year that are now at McNeese were good Class A basketball players but not great. What's up with the talent? Here's a look back at some of the most talented high school players that I had the privilege to watch.
1) Randy Livingston Newman High School: Randy was in national class loaded with talent that included Jerry Stackhouse, Rasheed Wallace, and Jason Kidd. He was as good if not better than those 3. What might have been had he not suffered the knee injuries.
2) Jerald Honeycutt Grambling High School: Honeycutt was a man amongst boys in high school. He had an excellent career at Tulane and played in the league for a few years.
3)Kerry Kittles St. Aug: Kittles was smooth as ice and had a great career at Villanvo and a very good NBA career with the Nets.
4)Marcus Fizer Arcadia: Fizer was also a man among boys at the high school level. Had a great career at Iowa State and played a good bit in the NBA.
5)Stromile Swift Fair Park: Amazing talent at the high school level at LSU and had a few good years in the NBA.
Best of the rest for me: DJ Augustine, Shannon Foreman, Chris Duhon, Darrel Mitchell, Glenn Davis, Tyrus Thomas, Greg Monroe, Duane Spencer, Demond "Tweety" Carter, Tasmin Mitchell, Brandon Bass, Leonard Mitchell, Torris Bright, Clarence Moore, Tierre Brown.

I grew up in the late 80s/early 90s going to tournaments in Lake Charles over the holidays of the best teams in LA. They had some studs.
Scouts were everywhere. Doubt its still like that

As long as the high school football talent is way up, we will be just fine.

quote:this guy here could light it up for reserve Christian . My daughter played high school basketball ( class b) and I would stick around and watch the boys. Anyway Tweety dropped 62 on us. Kid was unreal in high school. I remember going back and forth with some of their fan base, I accused them of recruiting and they didn't like it all.....A small school( class B at the time) with three D1 players...yea ok you don't recruit
Demond "Tweety" Carter

If we're talking strictly high school level, then you need to add Edwin and Dino Daniels.. These guys were unstoppable at the high school level. Played on the best team in Louisiana at the time Walter L Cohen. Had every coach in the Country recruiting them from the Calipari, Pittino, Tarketon, and Dean Smith. One went to Louisville the other went to UNLV under tark. Both flamed out as headcases in college. Can't believe no one ever mentions these guys they went almost 3 years without losing a game. On top of that they win the tournament of champions championship.

Neil Reed vs Torris Bright in the Top 28 in BR, was a battle.
