Thinking of switching from DirecTv to Dish Network.

Any reason I shouldn't?

I love the Hopper3 system. Let me know if you want a referral code.

This is why I'm considering it. I've heard nothing but great things about the Hopper3.(That and my bill would drop by about $50 a month.)
Ever since the little "An AT&T Company" logo showed up on my screen, my DirecTV Genie has been slow and laggy as hell.

I appreciate it, but I already got one from a buddy.

Dish latest tech is fantastic.

Anyone see a difference on picture quality from DirecTV and Dish? I had heard that this used to be the case, but the Hopper3 has changed that.

I switched from DirecTV (14 years a customer) to Dish back in March. Can't say enough good things about it. The tech is light years beyond anything the other guys offer. Honestly I think the quality of Directv's HD appears to be a bit sharper. I see more artifacts on Dish, but at a normal viewing distance you really can't tell much of a difference. One day I was watching CBS on Dish and was really disappointed with the quality. I switched over to the OTA broadcast and it was identical. Maybe this quality thing is more perception than reality. SD channels on Dish are awful, luckily I don't watch those anyway.

Thank you very much sir.

I would wait a month or two. The convergence of ATT and Direct might lead to some deals IF you have ATT service AND Direct TV. I am already seeing ads for streaming Direct TV to your ATT Phone and it not counting against your data pool. And with ATT's recent service issues post-flooding, there might be some sweeter deals flung consumer's way.

I ditched DirecTV about three years ago and made the switch to Dish Network.
Dish has better equipment and dare I say, "better" customer service. DirecTV keeps sending me promotional items to "welcome" me back, but I'm happy right where I am.

I have the Hopper 3 (great satellite box - no lag time and has many built in features). Before that, I had the Hopper 2.
No difference in picture quality vs. DTV.

I have Verizon for phone and my DirecTV service has only gotten worse since AT&T came along.

Awesome. I'll probably take the weekend to catch up on my DVR'd stuff and then pull the trigger.
Thanks everyone!

Another happy Dish user here.

After 10 years with Dish including my last 3 with the Hoppers/Joeys. Excellent!

I'm a Dish user (previously Time Warner Cable) and like it, however probably going to try out Playstation Vue when my contract expires.

My DirecTV is up and i'm considering switching as well. Cox wants me back and is willing to commit to a two year locked in very good deal (89.99/mo).
However I'm also with TMobile, so i'm considering telling Direct i'll switch to AT&T if they make me a deal.
Never dealt with Dish...

Just that Dish has an attractive option. Price wise, that is.
