The Electoral College is actually genius in that it brings all states, including the smaller ones, into play. Campaigning is much different!

If the election were based on total popular vote I would have campaigned in N.Y. Florida and California and won even bigger and more easily

he blasted the electoral college the day after he was elected...

He's either confused or tweets random thoughts too easily. I voted for the guy, but maybe someone else should be in charge of the twitter handle...

Well he sounds much more rational than this guy. I hope he was able to reach out in 2012 and explain the electoral college to that very confused individual.

It's such a lie to say "under a different set of rules, Hilary may have won." Of Nader a different set of rules, he would have campaigned differently. It's not like she had millions more in the popular vote.

?@realDonaldTrump
The electoral college is a disaster for a democracy.

Yep, this was in 2012. I'm attributing this to his anger that Romney lost and not rational thought. But he really should consider this tweet before praising the electoral college here.

I go back and forth too, problem is popular votes can be manipulated more easily than the electoral vote. The Electoral college can work so long as the process of counting and verifying votes is not corrupted by outsiders. It does give every state a voice because you can win 39 states and still lose the popular vote. Campaigning would be much different without the electoral college i do agree with that.

The man hates losing. He hasn't had to do much of it throughout his lifetime. It's only natural to grasp at straws.

I won't hold the ignorance being spouted by democrats about the electoral college in 8 years against them if they win back the WH. This moaning about the electoral college is as routine as the sunrise.

You plebs don't comprehend the troll. He knows that the 3 million illegal votes will eventually be discredited and he will have won the popular vote by over 2 mil. You keep falling for it and try to gotcha him for the 306th time, though.

Well Romney actually lost the popular vote so he as factually incorrect then too.

BUT he was a 65 year old man when did not understand the purpose of the Electoral college.

BUT more importantly, he was willing to advocate for revolution based on false information (Romney won popular vote) and a misunderstanding of the system we have in place.

Look, it's fine to admit that Trump held a different view on this in 2012 and still support him.

He's not literally infallible and I think you may be taking his genius a little far with this one.

Given the fact that he didn't run in 2012, but did now tells me he got more information and educated himself about a lot of things in the interim.

Are you telling me you haven't learned anything you didn't previously understand, in the last 4 years?

The Dems crying about popular vote is the epitome of "moving the goalposts". Using popular vote instead of EC woukd change the entire election cycle. Candidates would campaign differently. The ground game would be different. And the electorate would react differently. And as a result, the popular vote numbers would look different than they do today.

It's a retarded argument at this point because the candidates campaigned and the electorate voted based on the set rules going into it. Why are liberals so dumb and/or intellectually dishonest?

So he knew about the 2016 election in 2012?

And I love how some random tweet with no evidence (3 million illegal voters) is now a point being argued as fast.
