Unique explanation of Trump win

I thought I'd read every angle over the last two days. But I just read Ellen Wolfe's letter to editor in USA Today and she's got the answer.
The reason Trump won was because the media (USA, NYT, WAPO and the networks) were obsessed with maintaining journalistic objectivity and refrained from going negative on Trump.
They 'candy-coated' Trump's flaws and made him 'palatable' to the American voters. They should feel guilty for letting down the American people.

this is going to shock you but in liberal circles the media is disliked almost as much as it is in conservatives ones.

Yet they believe themselves intellectually superior to others? Ha!
At least 75% of all Trump coverage was negative.

Why?
They don't get their way enough?
They don't go after the right hard enough to leave them a broken party?
I'm curious.

I know this, like I know that women have certain opinions about dirtbag men. Knowing that it happens on an intellectual level is easy, understanding the viewpoint in depth is not possible for me.

But the disdain is for a completely different reason.
Just like the OP cited, this Ellen Wolfe person actually thinks the MSM went easy on Trump. In other words, all the collusion with the DNC, all the one-sided coverage of HRC and the bad-mouthing of Trump wasn't enough.
If there is even 1 percent of objectivity left in today's MSM, then that's 1 percent too much for the likes of Wolfe and liberals everywhere. It's nauseating, but plainly illustrates that they are truly fascists at heart. They love a dictator, as long as the dictator agrees with them.

The view there is the media only cares about sensationalism, doesn't do much to challenge what they say are right wing lies. Overly critical and unfair to HRC on emails, made too big a thing about pneumonia. Things like that.

Wow. If the media doubles down on their anti-American bent they will likely be making use of bankruptcy laws themselves.

I guess that stupid count missed headlines like this in the WaPo:
