Miles' Immediate Legacy

Les Miles will be remembered fondly by future LSU fans. He will be remembered for a high winning percentage, eccentric personality and a national title.
Having said that, his immediate legacy is s carry over from his entire tenure.
I'm not talking about the obvious...poor QB play.
His legacy in the short term, as was evident last night, is and will be subpar offensive line play.
Curious as the man himself, spotting and developing OL talent was supposed to be his specialty.
Until LSU corrects the OL issues, we will not compete for any championship again.

His players that were under his training...he recruited them and taught them (or didn't).

He deserves a fair share of the blame.

Everyone is very positive about Aranda. We have to credit Miles with the Aranda hire, right?

You guys forget saban decided to not recruit oline men his last year? They moved defensive players there.
Get the frick out with this bullshite.
Les would have won last night and the past 3 games.

LSU made Les Miles, he didn't make LSU.
Fans are in denial about how far behind we've become.

Hate it but it's true and it won't be corrected overnight. You need two to three really good recruiting classes on that position in terms of talent and building depth, and you need an OL coach who knows how to teach and develop talent.

Leonard Fournette is a running back, what's more, he's a throwback to a different era. He's an I back, and his best success is running from the I, behind a fullback.
Les Miles was one of the few coaches around that is willing to build an offense around a back like him, and that style of offense is what got him canned. Saban can get away with it because he has the #1 recruiting class every single year, and his offensive line allows that; and his defense allows that style of game. But since Kiffin, even he has moved away... and the reason we lost last night was because of the mobile QB, not the power run.

It's Les's team, idiot.
Just because Les is gone doesn't mean the remnants of his regime are gone. The effects remain, and will for awhile.

It is silly to blame Miles for everything. It is equally silly to cast aside credible and irrefutable poor elements of his tenure. The OP provides a credible perspective.

A great legacy for the first 5 or 6 years. Lsst 4 or 5 he really started falling off.
