I'm sorry. But was the assailant who assaulted the teen arrested? The story says he was not.

He pushed him to the ground. While this white devil certainly acted like an a-hole, what would you have liked to see happen here? Do you think if the runner was white and the driver was black he would've been arrested? Or are you just being a race baiting pos this morning?

I did not say it did.

It's the point of your thread. That's why you linked a story titled:

"Autistic black teen got lost running 5K, assaulted by man who feared mugging"

And of course the assailant was not arrested or charged.

Nor should he have been. This is an extraordinary situation which doesn't happen all the time, but a disabled young man was off course and running towards someone who didn't know their intent. If this person was known to get off course during runs, their parent is dropping the ball by not accompanying them. He could have just as easily fallen down somewhere, gotten lost, or a myriad of other things could have happened.

If anything, this is bad parenting. Not assault.

I suppose that would depend on what spectrum of autism the teen exhibits

The inflammatory aspect for me is that it was/is an autistic child. THAT is what makes this deplorable.....not that he was black

100% correct. That is why I removed the word black from my OP. Unfortunately I could not remove it from the linked article

Am I an a-hole if I say this doesn't exactly look like a child, more like a young man, and you can't exactly tell just from looking that he's autistic?

That said, it's a shitty situation, and it certainly appears that the dude acted rashly by shoving him to the ground.

That's exactly what a mugger in disguise would want you to think..

I agree. But that does not excuse someone assaulting him.

Idk why this is being downvoted. I assume folks didn't read the article.

First of all, the guy thought this kid was going to mug him? Look what this potential mugger is wearing.

Dude has a damn number on his chest.

Not to mention there was an eye witness. Obviously he didn't deserve to be assaulted.

quote:

The other witness, Kris Van Metter, told Syracuse.com that he had just finished a bicycle ride when he saw the same scene.

"I see a grown man, who is quite tall and fairly heavy . . . exit the vehicle and give this young man a shove that puts him back 10 feet and flat on his butt," Van Metter told the news site. "Like, just shoved him across the road. The kid didn't seem to be doing anything but standing there, obviously had nothing in his hands and weighed all of 130 pounds. This guy was easily twice that."

I get that but he's clearly pretty far on the spectrum if getting lost at races is a frequent occurance

Who said child? The subject line clearly says "teen".
