Hahahhaha well he damn sure couldn't deny his mistakes! Hahahhaa
Are you just as willing to ignore resumes of all other coaches as long as they admit they made mistakes?
And admission is all you need to be reassured that a coach is ready for a big time job?

O is saying the opposite of what Miles said, and doing the opposite of what he did, all as the central plan of his PR campaign.
He knows what Miles was criticized about, and in order to gain public backing and support, he is saying the opposite. And people are falling for it
im glad this got more downvotes then upvotes. do people really think like this?

You can't argue he's not a better coach now than he was at Ole Miss.
How can anyone make an intelligent observation of this after 3 games...2 of them being cupcakes. This upcoming stretch will answer your question but not right now.

is winning a championship the only qualifier for "fantastic"?
Way to avoid the question....
No, a championship isn't the only qualifier. However, for a school and fan base that think we should win championships all the time, it is important.
All I'm trying to say is O should have just as good of a shot as anybody else.

can anyone help me out? and I'm talking about college, so don't throw Belicheck at me college and NFL coaching is completely different
I can think of one in college that did the opposite and that's Charlie Strong

I have watched Houston. While the goofy spread option stuff may look good other places, I don't want to see it at LSU. Besides, we would have to wait several years until Herman has "his guys" to run his system. F that. We have the players to win NOW.
mother fricking this

exactly. Why can't people just wait and then assess ?
He's done some nice things for sure. But we need to see how he will handle games against teams that will actually put up a fight. What decisions he makes when the game is on the line. How motivated his team plays. If he puts the team in position to win games, which Miles failed over and over at

well I really don't want to sidetrack the thread arguing about other candidates when we know the top candidates
Fisher and Herman are at the top
some other options would be Fuente, Chris Peterson, Fedora, etc

and all I'm saying is that O just hasn't proven it yet

While interim head coach, he has all head coaching duties.
well except for recruiting his own players, hiring his own assistants, or all the pressure that comes with being a HC...sure
At USC before taking over as interim he was the associate head coach, D-line and recruiting coordinator. So yes he did recruit his own players. I would think the pressure for an interim would be greater. He has a new job to perform along with what he was doing before being named the head coach, all while keeping a program together who just lost its leader.

hiring his own assistants
this is just not true in this case. O has done splendid at this in his five weeks as HC at LSU. His first personnel move was to FIRE Cam Cameron, second was to promote Steve Ensminger to offensive coordinator and third was to hire Pete Jenkins for D-line. So far all three have been home runs.

O has proven to be a fantastic interim coach. I would like him to prove that he can be a fantastic head coach before hiring him at LSU.
The O crowd thinks they are witnessing just that right now. There are a few more games and he will face a murderous schedule. If he can win games and the team look good while doing it and at the same time politic for the job along with his other duties. It may turn out okay for them.

If anything he's done a fantastic job of staying out the way of the football and he's been great at being a politician.
Yeah, I've seen time-lapsed photos of him spending hours every day trying to figure out a Rubik's cube. Funny thing is the cube looks worse now than when he started.
Yeah, he hasn't fired, promoted or hired anybody. Hasn't adjusted practices, overseen changes to the offense or special teams. Nope he just stays away and avoids anything having to do with LSU football.
If he's hired I am planning on sending him a case of rubik's cubes to occupy all the free time he will have since he has nothing to do with the LSU football team.

I wonder how many coaches we have out there who would love to have their failures not considered because it's in his past.
Hell, lets bring back Hallman. His failure was a long time a go too.
It's laughable that some want to bet the LSU football future on, "i know he failed bad the last time he ran a program, but that's the past and maybe he is better now."

LSU did not fire Miles just so it could hire one of his assistants.

Nobody honestly thought there were only 5 teams in the entire country better than them.
I disagree. When Houston beat Oklahoma to start the season there were probably a whole bunch of people who thought Houston was one of the top teams in the country. If a team can beat OU there is no reason for them to Lose to Navy and SMU and struggle against Tulsa.

Not sure why 2 losses disqualify Herman but 27 are ignored for Coach O. Any candidate we're looking for is going to have bad losses here and there.
Agreed with the losses here and there. To me, the poor performance by Herman's team has been over the last month - very recent information to make judgement on.
For Coach O his losses were first off at Ole Miss. Secondly, they were over 10 years ago.

O was a coordinator for a championship team?
O did better than that. For two national titles he was not only associate head coach, he also at the same time coached the defensive line and was the recruiting coordinator. Just being an OC would have been too easy and given him too much free time.

yet the coaches before and after him had greater success at the same place

the fact that he has not had a HC job in 10 years doesn't concern you at all?
Posted on 10/28/16 at 9:28 am to Tiger Ree
Pretty much true....ensminger has run the Offense from start to finish. Aranda has continued to run his defense. Ponamsky has handled the perimeter (including being the man behind bringing former Tigers back)...Ed has been shaking hands and kissing babies. Aaaayyyeeeeee Cher!!! We gon pass a good time yeah on dat tell da troot Monday!
Hahahhaha he ain't done sht ( by his own admission ...and you Ediots , hang your hat on his admissions) except play politics like a good ole boy.

this is either utter delusion or pure ignorance
I honestly can't tell

I cannot believe that LSU is in position to get one of the top coaches in the nation and the fans are going to let the AD off the hook and allow him to go cheap with O. I don't want to read a word of complaint on this board when he sucks because so many of you were calling for this move to be made.

You are insane if you think the job of interim head coach correlates to running a program as permanent head coach.
Just exactly how does it not correlate to being a permanent head coach? Do they get to just go on vacation?

We run almost the same type of offense now? Are you stupid?
