From what I was told at lunch today...

If coach O was retained, Aranda would keep Associate Head Coach title and receive a pay increase and contract extension. O would then make a move to get Kiffin at LSU. They are super tight, way tighter than I thought. If he couldn't get Kiffin, this is what I was told today "there's a big name offensive mind that he would go after. Let me confirm it before I let it leak out." Coach O is fine with making significantly less than Les made and allocating more money to the coordinators. I heard he's selling hard to name him ASAP so he can lock in some great recuits to finish the class with a bang.

Mother of god. If Alleva comes out Monday after a hypothetical LSU win over Alabama, it's yet another decision based on emotion. Wait to assess the situation AFTER the season. If he loses 2/3 afterward it's a huge issue.

I just cannot fathom how this happens.

You have to think that Kiffin is vying for a head coach position somewhere.

If he can seriously bring in Lane Kiffin, beat Bama and retain Aranda, I'm all aboard for him. WTF else do you want the man to do???

I'm still wanting Jimbo Fisher, but if O can do all that, he's quickly closing ground.

Is there a back up plan if O loses 2 games? Or are we just all in at this point?

I've been prepping myself for O to be named permanent head coach. At this point the only way I don't see coach O getting the gig is if he loses out.

Has Lane Kiffin ever explicitly come out and stated he wants to be a head coach again? His dad was perfectly happy being a career coordinator. Maybe he learned he's best suited for being an OC.

I stand by my statement made when Les was rightfully fired...

LSU will frick up this head coaching hire.

I'm not in here to flame you, but this happening is a very low chance possibility. Not because Kiff & O aren't tight - they are. Not b/c the LSU OC isn't a good job - it is. But because A) Kiffin will have HC offers after this season, B) if he were to stay at Bama he'd be doing so with Hurts at QB, 4 of 5 o-linemen returning, Ridley back, the top 4 rushers returning, etc. He's set up well at Bama. That's not even to mention that he'd get a bump to $1.5M this off season at Bama if he didn't take a HC job first.

I'm not against it. I think it would work and our class is being held so that would be huge

I'm all in for O and would love Kiffin but a lesson from the Les/Cam fiasco is don't hire your buddies because they're hard to fire.
